I am interested in this model based on the spec sheet. The 1500 Lumen rating is very attractive. Too many 1080p projector have very very low light output.

However the major criticism of the precedent model PT-AE1000 is that the image was very very soft due to the filtering used to try to minimze screen door effect.

So I want to buy the PT-AE2000U, but not if it also has the bad filtering making the image soft.

Can anyone link the reviews and release dates for the new model, I cannot seem to find it.

states it will be available in October for a MSRP of $2999.

Everything I have read states that it does indeed have smoothscreen incorporated. Who knows if it softens the image as much as was seen in the AE1000U.

I think the new Epson 1080 UB is supposed to be bright as well, but without the smoothscreen. Might want to keep an eye on that.
