Hey guys,
First, I want thank everyone here at AVS that gave me the knowledge and courage to build this amazing room in my home !
I figured I'd post a new Thread to ask this....the room is done and functioning well, but there were alot of echoes going on. Both from the sound system and also from people talking in the room. So I got my hands on 2" thick sound deadening material from work (I sell Standby Generators, and this material is used to line the inside of the housings).
AWESOME results.
They make the room so much more pleasing to be in, I just don't know if my placement is ideal, since I have nothing on the front wall.

2 large panels behind the listeners ears that stopped echoing around the couch and 2 up high on the soffits that stopped the echoing from above ringing in the "soffit ring".

1 up at the Reflection point for the Left.

0 up at the Reflection for the Right since there's a door.
0 on the Front wall.
What do you think about no door treatment, and nothing on the front wall ?

Also, this stuff is just stapled to the wall, I need to wrap them with something from maybe JoAnns....any ideas on how I do that ?

Thanks so much

Plasma, what did you use for your treatments? I'm concerned that what you used will only be helpful for the very high frequencies.

I used OC 703 2" thick rigid boards. I placed them at the first reflection points on the side walls only (for now due to budget). I do feel that treating the front wall will help considerably. Don't forget bass traps, but I won't go into that here. I originally wrapped my panels with Muslin from Walmart. I dyed them. I spray glued them to the back of the panels and hung them via impaling clips. I didn't really like the look, so I opted to take them down, rip some MDF to 2 inches and bult a 2' x 4' frame. I then placed the fiberglass board inside, and I wrapped it with some Felt from Joanne's. I hung them via the "French Cleat" method and I couldn't be happier with that method. I built a panel and hung it on the door. You want to be sure you match as much as possible the right and left side when hanging panels. When my budget allows, I'll purchase more rigid fiberglass for a panel on each side of my screen and to cover the first reflections on my ceiling.

I don't have the budget to go ALL OUT. So, once you hit a point that you feel sounds GOOD TO YOU.....then you are GOOD TO GO!!! I didn't build my room for pro's to come evaluate. Although I'd LOVE to have a room like many on here that sound phenominal, I'm very happy with what I have regarding my budget.

If you have the budget for more panels, by all means, treat the front wall, the ceiling AND add some bass traps in the corners. The panels helped the sound in my room tremendously, but when I added 4" of 703 to my two front corners, it doubled the improvement.

Hey Tony,
I guess I have now way of knowing the characteristics of this stuff. I can tell you it's very expensive. Our Company is very high end in the generator business, and the purpose is to deaden the sound of diesel engines, gas engines 4cyl, 6cy, 8cyl on up. SO I wouldn't think it's only for high frequencies, but then again that's lining the walls in between the sound and the ear.
My application is absorbing characteristics, probably different.

DO you have any picture of what you did ?
2x4 framing makes me think the panes are heavy ?
