Ok so ive been using my PS3 for blu-ray and ive been playing with the audio settings. Im using optical and 2ch PCM 48 kHz and 44.1 kHz are already bold and selected, but 88.2 Khz and 176.4 Khz are not selected, and when i check them all i get the this might damage your speakers message. Now whats the difference between them and how do i find out if my equipment will support it.IS it more the receiver, the speakers or both? for reference im using a Yamaha HTR-5860 receiver and polk audio monitor 40's front channel monitor 30's rear channel.

The PS3 will "upsample" your CDs to 88.2 or 176.4 kHz if you select either option. Your reciever might not support those sample rates over optical. My Denon 5803 takes 88.2 over optical but not 176.4. YMMV.
