I note that HP's MediaSmart server has a list price of $599 for 500 gigabytes (one hard drive). Since Netgear has taken over Infrant, the price of a ReadyNAS NV+ is $949, without any disks. the ReadyNAS is Linux based, I believe, while the HP machine is based on Windows Home Server. However, the HP machine has 512 MB (twice the memory) and a faster processor (probably needed to run a Microsoft OS rather than Linux).

I think that Netgear is going to have to re-think their price, or HP will cut into their market share.
