In short: I am wondering how people are switching their components video/audio and make it easy to use for those people who are not as adept (read family friendly)? See below for a more lengthy explanation.

Thanks,
Bob

In length:

I have struggled for years on how best to switch the video and audio of components: Satellite, DVD, video games etc. Given composite, Svid, component, hdmi, digital audio, analog audio etc.

A couple of years back I happened upon the DVDO HD unit and have since upgraded to the VP30. What a sweet unit, put all components in regardless of connection and output the vid to the TV and the audio to the receiver. Works great.

So now I am looking at mpeg noise reducers. OK so now what? In order to filter mpeg noise on all components I need to put the mpeg unit post the VP30 (which negates a lot of what it does) or somehow connect all of the components to the mpeg filter switch it and switch the audio on the vp30 (or the receiver).

Am I missing something? Macros on my remote? etc.

Examples: Algolith mosquito/flea only switch video, the newly announced pixelmagic unit only switches video. The DVDO50pro has promise.

You are on the right track...I have (i) all video sources connected directly to my scaler (i.e. Lumagen RadianceXD) and (ii) all audio sources connected directly to my pre/pro (Meridian 861 V4.2)...I then use a remote with macro capabilities (i.e. RTI T-4) so that ell the switching takes place behind the scenes...and, justto ensure that there are phone calls from others who use my system while I am at meetings, at the gym, etc. I have buttons that read "HD Cable of Projector", "HD Cable on Plasma", etc...even my young nephews who can read can use the system flawlessly!

Hope this helps.
