I did a lot of searching to find information on the Kworld 115. What I noticed was that whenever Kworld was mentioned, it was in a negative context. I use BTV and BYM on Wondows XP. I love the software, but can anyone give me first hand info on what I can expect from the Kworld PCI 115 in my system? I have Comcast cable, and my main interest is to get QAM locals.

Does anyone know where to find an online guide that is updated from time to time on tuner cards. It would be great to find what strengths, weaknesses, compaibility issues, and support issues currently exist, all in one place. Some cards are only crap if you try to use the included software, but if you use Sage, or Beyond TV, the cards works great.

I had a 115 card and couldn't get it to work with anything but its own Total Media app for QAM chs. No issues with the card - it works as advertised - you just need to know the above limitation. The remote is OK. The HTPC threads might be a better place to ask this.

Works great on a Myth box, pretty much crap otherwise. But the HTPC threads are the place to ask. (I have a Kworld 110 for QAM on Myth, no problems getting all the locals - the 115 is basically the same card.)

I also use the 110 on a MythTV/Linux system, and it works fine. A difficult install for me, but I doubt that will affect it on Windows. FYI, it doesn't seem to pull in quite as many channels as my Samsung 260f stb, which is not a pc card so the comparison may be unfair. But you might try to find out which pc cards do the best at reception.

OP is asking about QAM, not ATSC reception, but he could try ATSC if willing to run an antenna feed to the PC. ATSC is supported by all the popular Windows DVR apps.

You won't get anything with the Kworld and QAM on BeyondTV (or any other Windows DVR app) because QAM is not supported by the Windows BDA drivers that these apps use. So if you have to have QAM, you have to use Myth.

... because QAM is not supported by the Windows BDA drivers that these apps use. So if you have to have QAM, you have to use Myth.

Or a HD Home Run box. From what I've read in the HDHR thread, the HDHR box has a way to trick windows into supporting QAM. Although I think it requires painfully creating a channel mapping file by hand instead of just scanning.

The OP might want to read the HDHR thread if he absolutely must have QAM in windows.
