Hey guys,

I've read in a few deep threads about others having this problem, but it was burried in a 8 billion page thread. So I figured I would start a new one so we can help each other out or even have DirecTV take more notice to this problem.

The problem is, when tuning into any of the new HD channels the reciever procudes a high pitch buzzing sound. It's on my local HD channels too. I'm 24 years old and hear this thing like a freaking dog would hear a dog whistle. I just can't watch any of the new channels because of it. I had my mother come over and try to hear it and she didn't hear anything.

As most people know, younger people hear the higher decibel stuff. So many people don't have this problem I'm sure. Has anyone figured out a way to solve this? It really sucks.

DirecTV sent me a replacement reciever and it didn't fix anything. I'm wondering if the H21 or something would be different if I should ask them to try that instead?

I also don't know if this makes a difference but it's a H20-100.. Do the newer ones not have the problem? Are the newer ones actually even built differently?

No clue about the buzzing sound, but the HR21 is a prosumer model that is >$1,000. Not for consumers.

Can any other younger people with an H20 - 100 model confirm this?

I just got the H20 and I dont hear it...however, I must ask, are you referring to that very high pitch whine that some people here from R.F. ( RF Burst)? it may be your T.V. especially since you have tried a second reciever and the problem continues.

I hear the sound when switching back and forth between HD and SD but only when I have Dolby selected for sound. If I deselect Dolby, sound goes away upon switching.

I had this happen once. The first thing I tried was a soft reset (from the setup menu), and that was the end of it.

TV can be off and I still hear it when switching between those channels.

It's a high pitch humming sound coming off the reciever itself. It's only on the new HD and the local HD channels.

I tried reseting it, I tried alot of things, it's just the reciever.. How old are you guys? If I may ask.

Just to update.. DirectV said they're shipping out H21 models now or something to that effect.. They said they would try to ship me one to replace this.
