Guys,

Is it okay to mount a fixed projector screen on the wall directly above a fireplace that has been flush mounted with the wall?

The screen would start about two inches above the fireplace. It's a Stewart 130 fabric/rubber type screen.

I've never used a fireplace before but my new house has one right where the projector screen will need to go. Will the fireplace damage the screen whenever it is burning?

Thanks,
Eddie

Boy this just sounds like a terrible idea. No matter how well vented it is some outgassing and smoking WILL occur (from time to time). Plus you will have convection current carrying super dry air onto the screen. May be off base and some experts could chime in.

Thanks for the reply. I've never used a fireplace in my entire life. But it is possible that with the right circumstances, I could possibly use it about 5-10 times per Winter?

You could go with a electric retractable screen and put it up when you want to use your fireplace. There are some pretty nice ones on the market
