I just got a 1272 on ebay for $20, it is not working, this is the info supplied by the seller:
called a repair shop they came over to check it out and told me that the CRT tube mechanism has to be replaced on the blue tube.

Prior to this it was in great working condition, now when you power it up it kicks in for a few seconds and shuts down. (the same as if the small fan is not working and it it will shut down.) Repair person told me that the system sences that one of the buld's mechanisms (blue tube) is not working correctly and has to be replaced.

I dont have time to take it to the shop besides the projector weights over 100 lbs.

I am selling it as for parts (but from what i was told it wouldnt be hard to fix it).

I turn it on and the code says ER for a brief second, the fans start, than it shuts down, I looked at the Curt Palme stuff, but don't where to start, any help is appeciated. What board to you think is referenced in the above description? Thanks.

If your repair person calls crt's "buld's" , I'd want a second opinoin!

I would go back to Curt Palme site and put your questions in the CRT thread. They have VERY smart people on that site. I'm sure they can answer any questions you might have. They have helped me out numerous times. I also have a Sony 1272, two actually!

Good Luck!

the buld was from the ebay poster, I have it posted there also, but nothing so far.

Ah, the odd smrt person shows up here too on occasion..;)

That error code of yours does not exist. Could the code be EA?

Never mind, that code doesn't exist either..;)

Let us know what the code is and we can take it from there.

Curt, Ok, I have an update, I raised the main board and when I power it on, the blue tube sparks internally near the circuit board at the base, there is no code when I hit power, just E1, C3 real quick as best I can tell, if I hold power A0 will stay on. Thanks.

DO NOT hold the power down!

Sounds like your blue tube is shorted, I've got spares, but they are not in great condition. Shoot me an email to curtpalme@shaw.ca and we can discuss.

Thanks!
