I like the movie. In fact, I really like the movie. However, your first post still sounds like a schill post to me.

Mr. Cage, please have the decency to post using your own name, it's not like we would fill up your inbox with fan mail.

I think it'd make a worthy addition to the HD library. I think it's a potential reference film.

Personally I loved the movie. Not the best hi def transfer ever but it had some nice moments viewing the canyon. My wife exclaimed how beautiful it was more than once or twice.

Not sure why everyone dislikes this movie, it is what it is.. I have blind purchased movies that came strongly recommended here like V for Vendetta, and kingdom of heaven, now, while these movie may LOOK good they were horrible stories. Next was at least enough action and suspense to keep me on the edge of my seat.

This movie was amazing. From start to finish I was enthralled. The cinematography was as beautiful as Jessica Biel and the dialog was more realistic than most sci-phi movies I've seen. Nick Cage's delivery was impeccable. Which, whether you love him or hate him, who can expect any less from one of the best action stars of our generation? The CGI was absolutely amazing. It fully utilizes all that high definition has to offer and pushes HDDVD to its limits. I've never seen such awesome graphics as when Chris Johnson saves Agent Callie Ferris' life from the tumbling logs. Talk about a nail biting experience!!! I recommend this movie like I recommend breathing!!

Ignore the disgruntled BR trolls, they are just peed off that the movie is an HD DVD exclusive.:p

I picked it up this weekend but not for much reason than to keep my Philip K. Dick Movie Collection Complete. I know the movie is barely a Shell of the Original Story but none the less I'm not expecting too much which is probably a good thing as I'll probably like it better that way.

I'm looking forward to watching this movie. I wanted to see it in the theater but I'm glad I didn't since it bomb but I'm adding it to my top ten list of movies to watch that I've purchased recently. Although I don't have much time to watch movies now with the new TV season and the excellent games coming out for the Xbox 360.

I myself loved it, expected alot worse after the flop in the theater, but it was a good movie and it did have good pq as well.

Ok so maybe my enthusiasm for the movie came across as trollish or fake, but I really did enjoy this movie. Maybe I'm biased because I happen to be a huge Cage and Moore fan...it didn't help that I find Jessica Biel crazy beautiful. I just got the HD-DVD add on for my 360 and this was the first movie I bought so I'm really new to HD anyway. I thought the story was very interesting and I saw a lot of people hating on the movie so I stepped up to give some praise.

Don't let 'em get you down, we all started here at one time or another. Myself, I liked the movie (liked, not loved) and Jessica is always fine in HD! But I won't be buying because of the price, unless I find it somewhere cheaper; I simply have too many others coming to save money for, i.e. the Kubrick titles.

Well, even if it is a plant, I'd rather have them looking here and seeing how we appreciate the format rather than us shouting in the darkness. And I hope this place doesn't turn into AICN with all the "PLANT!" posts in every other thread.

My roommate and I watched this movie last night and my god it was awful! We had no idea what was going on... The plot was all over the place, that characters were uninteresting, cgi awful, etc. The only thing that was decent about it was Biel and she wasnt even as hot as usual. Julianne Moore was the only actor in the film that toke her role seriously (as usual).

The worst part was about halfway through the film, we (a little drunk):D were just ripping on the film and I was like I hope when the plot line comes to an end, it turns out its all a glimpse into the future and the plot starts all over again, and I was utterly shocked when that is exactly what happened! I can NOT beileve a producer actually thought this would make for a movie.

Maybe he wasn't a plant. Can't really tell with it being his first post, and he has posted again in this thread, so don't be too hasty.

I know some folks thought my raves about The Cable Guy weren't genuine.

All kidding aside, welcome to the forums.

Give the OP a break; he's enthusiastic about HD DVD software in an HD DVD software forum area. Besides, his name is close to Action Jackson, which happens to be one of my favorite action movies of all time. :D

I originaly saw it going in cold when the SD DVD was loaned to us. All I knew was it has Nicholas Cage and Juliane Moore as the stars and some early reviews said it was good. I watched upconverted on the Toshiba HD-A2 and the Pioneer 5070HD plasma. I really liked it. I love action flicks and that it was. We had to return it to the owner and I wanted to see it again because unless you pay close attention to every second of the film you will miss subtle nuances that help things make sense.

Well, the other day I was in Best Buy picking up some music and was looking to see what they had interesting on DVD. I happened to run across "NEXT" on HDDVD and decided to buy it (first one I've bought on HDDVD, I've got hundreds on SD DVD) we watched it with a guest again on Saturday night. We enjoyed it again and I understood more, the guest also enjoyed it, BUT, I did not think the image was a vast improvement over the upconverted SD DVD on the same equipment like others I have seen. It was better but I dont think it was $15 better. The studios or whomever is responsible for the transfers between the differing formats needs to really WOW people. After all, isn't that why we get this stuff anyway?

I didn't find it all that enthralling. It had a few interesting sequences, but that was all it was...a series of neat vignettes loosely strung together by a thin plot.

+1. I liked the movie too. Of course I also liked Ghost Rider. After a long streak of BAD "man" movies like WeatherMan and WickerMan, I think N. Cage has got 2 good flicks, IMHO.

Actually I just watched it Sunday night I was very suprised at how much I enjoyed it....Very very good film.

If that's why, then it's a recipe for disappointment. You can't get more out of an original film that what the film originally had to offer. All the HD format can provide is an honest presentation, nothing more.

that terrible balding mullet on cage is worth the price of entry alone lol. god, i watched 10 min of this movie on a plane and went back to reading FHM.

thats why we have opinions folks. it's why I have a collection of sci fi, action films and the next guy has artsy films and so on. I happened to enjoy next, but i also liked hulk and howard the duck too........I'm easy i guess.

I like Nic Cage (The Rock is still one of my favs) and Jessica Beil is hot. I thought is was decent up until the end. I actually fast forwarded through the credits to see if anything else was going to happen. IMO, the transfer was subpar for an HD DVD. I've seen better DVD transfers.

If not, and just FYI, comparing a movie to Paycheck is most definitely NOT a compliment. Paycheck was underrated? Even though it was universally panned, this movie was still vastly overrated. It's so beyond bad that it makes my teeth hurt. It's so bad the director had to tie pork chops around its neck so the dog would play with it. It's so bad the doctor slapped its mother when it was born. It's so bad...ok, ok, I'll stop.

Very forgettable, next.

I wish I had Chris Johnson's "power" so that I could see what a disappointment it was going to be and then decide not to watch it.
