I have an Acer 22" LCD monitor for my computer that has a DVI-HDCP and an analog VGA connector, because of my current living situations I can't use my Sanyo Z2 or my older Pioneer DVD player (fiance's dvd player died so I gave her mine). I was thinking about getting the new Pioneer Elite 48V DVD player with the HDMI output. My question is, can I hook up the dvd player to my monitor with a HDMI to DVI adapter? The monitor supports up to 1680x1050 so I know 1080p is out of the question. Thanks.

It all depends if the LCD monitor supports (accepts) HDTV standard resolutions. Since it is HDCP compatible I would assume it can. I'd double check the specs to make sure it can accept 480p or 720p (or even 1080i/p). Whatever you send it will have to scale to NR.

It supports:
640x480
720x400
800x600
832x624
1024x768
1152x864
1280x1024
1440x900
1680x1050
So am I out of luck?

Weird, it's missing the most likely resolution that will work, 1280x720.

Yup, it's not a HDTV monitor. It support none of the HDTV standard resolutions.

Do you own something that already outputs 1280x720 that can be set to 1:1 pixel? If you do, just try it. It may just work.
