I'm not a gamer per se as my priority for the PS3 was for BD movies but I wanted to at least try a driving game and in 1080i resolution.
This title is totally addicting! It took me about a half hour to get the feel of drifting and better driving techiques into cornering. I started with arcade mode to get the feel of things and then moved to the Grand Prix mode. I'm by no means an expert but I'm able to win races after awhile to progress to the next one.
I only rented it to try it out but I think I may end up buying it! Holy smokes! :)

just for fun (http://thisisriiidgeracer.ytmnd.com/) :) (view in IE for sound)
This game is so much fun it's stupid. Me and a bunch of my friends went through the entire game. One of the best and most fun game experiences I've ever had.
I feel sorry for people who can't appreciate this game for what it is.
I've always loved RR's arcade style, it's great to have an opposite to Gran Turismo when you want to race but don't feel like a sim.

Hell the first couple of versions you couldnt STOP me from playing. The speeds and power slides.
I played the one on my PSP alot too.
I've never had fun with driving sims.. I guess because I have a driving sim every day in NYC traffic.. or maybe because I race motorcycles in real life as a weekend hobby..
Either way the last thing I care about perfecting my braking, entry, apex, exit and gas points in a videogame. Just give me a gas pedal (button) and let me mash the button 100% during the game.. and only hit the brakes when I know I'm entering a 30mph corner at 180mph..

I think RR7 is one of the most under rated games on the PS3. Very good 1080P visuals at 60 fps, an awesome sense of speed (at the hardest difficulty races), intense online battles, as well as pinpoint perfect, powerslide control. This thread reminds me... I need to finish that last 7%.

I like it! See you guys online? What do you say. IMO its the a great experience, the soundtrack ****ing rocks, and not to even mention the over all presentation. Really makes you feel if you were racing in Ridge Racer city.
The menus look slick also...

I honestly hated this game...and I owned the 33" deluxe sitdown arcade model for Ridge Racer 1 at one time, as well as every version for the first Playstation. I don't know, I couldn't get into it.

It was okay. The menus were slick. There were many game modes and customizations which were great. I really liked the racing against the ghost mode(time attack??). The problem was that I couldn't get the turning down consistently, when you hit a wall the car would stick to it and you would lose all of your speed, and online play was plagued with lag and people randomly warping.

Hmm... It is all about the drifts. Its unrealistic, the moment you tried to drive it like a real car, it wouldn't do it!

I know it's unrealistic and you're not suppose to drive it like a real car. I couldn't drift consistent. Half the time my car would go through the drift really slow and sometimes very fast. Also, if you hit a car while drifting you would lose a lot of speed. I still appreciate what it offered for a day-one game.
