Hello Gents,
I've been browsing the forums over here and I've nailed down most of the components I'll be getting for my new living room setup. I'm going with the Sammy 4671 as far as display goes, buying the MS HD-DVD addon for my HTPC, to which I'll add a Radeon HD2600 passive cooled vid card (My integrated chipset does not do HD processing, obviously). I have an X360 but will use the drive with my HTPC instead as my HTCP is much quieter and I've been convinced by reports that Purevideo/Avivo HD will give better results than what the X360 does. Since I live in Canada, I'll be upgrading my BEV to a 9200, my local cable provider has like 10 total HD channels, totally depressing.
Here is my dilemma. Should I invest in a VP with that setup? I was thinking of upgrading my Yamaha receiver with a new Onkyo NR905 (or perhaps its little brother, the 875). However, I think all my inputs will be scaled to 1080i or 1080p. I guess I could profit from signal cleaning from the NR905 but should I instead go for a HDMI flea? Or nothing at all? I guess I should state that while I enjoy watching and gaming on my TV, I'm not the most discriminating user.
