Oh how far this game has come. Check out this comparison of Uncharted's original CGI trailer from E3 '06 and Uncharted in it's near-final form:

Naughty Dog are so awesome! :D

You took bad pictures of new one. It looks like taken from a TV.

This ain't my comparison. :|

And despite the slight lack of clarity in the newer pics, you can still see just how much more detailed the latest build of the game is.

One of the main improvements I noticed was the lighting. I've noticed that a lot of PS3 games improve in lighting over time, most notably Killzone 2. The original trailer was better than the E3'07 trailer in almost every way, in clarity, texture resolution, polygon count, etc., but the lighting in the actual game is leagues better than the lighting in the original CGI trailer. The lighting wasn't dynamic at all in the original trailer. I notice something similar with Uncharted.

Looks better now in-game. I really like the way they ended up taking the art direction, has a grittier look now that i prefer over the 06' version.

It looks a little washed out in some of the newer photos. I think it's a little hit and miss. Some of the shots look way better and others look...a little off in some way. This is one of that games that I am very excited for. I haven't played a good game of that style in a while.

I think that's a result of the screen captures, and not representative of the actual game. We haven't gotten any official screen shots of the latest build of Uncharted, so all these photos were captured from low-rez gameplay videos from TGS and other places. That's why they don't have the same clarity of the older screens.

Looks great before and after. Graphics are cool with this game, but I'm actually most excited about gameplay and story. This game could have some legs.

The after pics make the game look more "real" than the target renders

The original trailer was NEVER cgi. It was all realtime using ND's in game assets.

Yeah, the latest shots looks (atleast on my monitor) weird. I dont like the contrast (gamma) and the magenta-tint. Thus, I modified them a bit with a new gamma-curve and a more "djungle-like" green/yellow tint...

I think what you're seeing is HDR in effect. Usually it will darken or wash out images if taken at the wrong times (IE taken when someone is running around, looking around, and playing, ect). My guess is this game looks sweet in action, with brightness going up and down all over the place due to what you're looking at, and the dynamic HDR.

Either way, this is gonna be a sweet one for my 70" XBR2 :D

Sweet, this is the game that I've been waiting on to take the PS3 plunge.
Looks great, better than the targets.

*Edit I give up.

I was trying to post individual pics but it seems they are all saved under same file name.

He was eating better in '06 :)

looks incredible :) :) :)

I'm just hoping that they fix the camera problems...if so they could have a GOTY contender here :)

Strangely enough I think I like the less detailed version more. Something just looks weird about the new one. I like the face closeups on the new one, but the flat buildings I think look better.

Same here. The buildings are coming across oddly in the new pictures. Seems pasty with everything blending in. I prefer way the buildings are coming across in the older versions.

It looks like all the surfaces is covered with light colored lichen or birdshit or something. I guess that could be more realistic given that it's ruins. lol

I actually thought the same thing. I wouldn't be surprised if thats why they made the change. Looks better in some pictures than others, but the one where he is swinging looks like a lot of bland.

Maybe for that one scene he should have to find a colorful orange shirt and wear that before swinging so he doesn't blend in too much. Maybe add in a scarf as well, for good measure.

Would probably have to make the guys who are shooting at him colorblind so he doesn't stand out too much with the brightly colored shirt and scarf.

The jungle scenes do look more detailed though.

i have come to the conclusion that it takes WAY too much to impress some people.

old and new pics look fantastic. I'd be very impressed with the game looking like either in the final build. The latest gameplay videos look fantastic so I'm not worried :)

Before I read the comments, I thought the point of the pictures were to show that the actual game isn't looking up to the standards of the earlier shots.

I'd say it exceeds them. They filtered out some the cartoon-ish look for a more gritty, realistic feel.

I approve :D

Definitely more detail.

Quite the opposite of a lot of games where they feed you high res touched up (replay sometimes) shots that don't match the actual gameplay graphics.

Good point, I was thinking the same thing. HDR sometimes (just like DOF) tend to look better in motion than in stills.

Actually, the magenta-shots looks like out-of-the-box, "store-demo", display calibrations.. :) I'm sure it will look great in the end, my G8 Pio will love it. :)
