HELLO everybody! i have just researched and purchased the appropriate components for my entry level home theater setup. i DESPERATELY need the help of you guys, the experts, on a couple of things...

1 - my 5.1 receiver has a subwoofer out. i purchased the Bic h-100 subwoofer, and i am looking for the best way to connect it to my receiver.
is the subwoofer out on my receiver meant for a digital coaxial audio cable that plugs into the bic from my receiver? what is the preferred (audio connection cable) way to connect the bic h-100 to my receiver with the subwoofer out?

2 - my receiver will be a few inches to the side from my nintendo wii, and my wii 3 ft from my subwoofer. can any of these devices interfere with each other and possibly damage each other?

3- my receiver has inputs for my front L R speakers for banana plugs. i believe my front L and R are compatible with banana plugs as well. what are the benefits of these and what else, if anything, do i need if i get the appropriate 14ga speaker wire and the banana plugs?

your help is GREATLY appreciated. i know these questions are for newbies and i recognize that, thats why this site, to me, is the best on the internet. you guys dont have to do this, yet you do. i cant thank you enough!

what is the preferred (audio connection cable) way to connect the bic h-100 to my receiver with the subwoofer out? RCA cable such as this monoprice (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10236&cs_id=1023601&p_id=619&seq=1&format=2)

2 - my receiver will be a few inches to the side from my nintendo wii, and my wii 3 ft from my subwoofer. can any of these devices interfere with each other and possibly damage each other? That setup should be fine

3- my receiver has inputs for my front L R speakers for banana plugs. i believe my front L and R are compatible with banana plugs as well. what are the benefits of these and what else, if anything, do i need if i get the appropriate 14ga speaker wire and the banana plugs? Others may disagree, but IMHO the only benefit to using banana plugs is if you plan to unplug your cables frequently. Otherwise, a bare connection is fine.

your help is GREATLY appreciated. i know these questions are for newbies and i recognize that, thats why this site, to me, is the best on the internet. you guys dont have to do this, yet you do. i cant thank you enough!

Enjoy your new system.

I would agree with HawaiianHDaddict's answers. Pretty much any standard RCA-RCA cable will work for the sub. If you are running the cable a longer distance, something with better shielding might help, but in your situation any old cable will work. The only concern I would have with the Wii and receiver would possibly be heat. If they are both in an enclosed cabinet, heat could be a problem (depending on how hot each component runs). The general rule is if it feels hot (not warm) to the touch, you need to worry. If they are out in the open, don't worry about it at all. Banana plugs don't really offer a sonic benefit, but more of a convenience benefit, like HDaddict said. I hate fiddling with bare wire connections, especially on the back of my receiver, where everything is so close together. It's really up to you though--don't feel like if you don't use them your setup will be missing something, it won't. Hope that helps! Enjoy your new system!
