Anybody know what the HDCP problems are with the LG tuner?
It has DVI out going first to my Sony VPL-VW50. With this hook up using a DVI to HDMI adapter I always found it intermittently would show up the "copy protected" and "DVI blocking" messages esp if I turned it on before the tv and it was recording.
Later I added an Onkyo TX-NR905 receiver into the string. With this everything worked great after about 20 to 30 minutes of warm up. Till then the units would reliably show the "copy Protected" etc messages for that first 20 minutes.
I found that if I put a Monoprice switch 1x5 in series between the LG and the Onkyo all the trouble disappeared. Now nothing makes it fail, with the switch using port 5.
UPDATE: I have found that Monoprice works great even with inputs 1-3! Going to my Sony direct it didn't but going via the Onkyo it does work on any input.
I bought the Oppo switch and it has worked flawlessly too with no copy protect messages.
I have also tried a Terk 2 output switch and a Gefen repeater. Both of these failed to work. One failed full time with "DVI blocking" and "Copy Protected" messages, and the other was intermittent enough it was unusable.
