Hi chaps,

I've searched for info on taurus screens but can't find any info (archived perhaps?). I wondered if anyone had any info on how to build one and the pluses and minuses of such a screen versus a standard 1.3 gain? Friend of mine just got his first CRT and wanted some information on them before he does his set up to see if it suits.

Any help or info greatly appreciated.

Try spelling it Torus in your search and you will have better results.

The positives are:
* You can run a larger screen
* The picture will be very bright

Negatives:
* Corner focus and edge focus won't be as good as center
* The top and bottom have a pin cushion look because of the curves

What about a screen similar to the one I saw at Field Museum in Chicago? It only had the 2 sides with the curve but not on the top and bottom.

The main problem is that there is no good high gain screen material for torus that I know of (anyone?). The pearlbrite is awful and has streaks all over the fabric. Then all the other fabrics color shift, hotspot, or are far too expensive.
