I have been trying to connect my computer and tv to my stereo for a while now. I connected the computer to my recciever using a rca cable. None of the inputs worked except the Video3 input in front of the reciever. Why wont the other inputs behind the reciever work? And When It does, why does it make a wierd buzzing noise?

Now for the TV. Lol. The first time i connected the TV to the reciever using a rca cable, it worked. But to hear the sound out of the stereo speakers, i had to turn the recievers volume up to the max, and it also makes the wierd buzzing noise. But, now when i connect it, it doesnt work at all. How do i get the volume to work regulary without having to turn it up to max? Which is the best input? And how do I stop the buzzing?

Sounds like something is wrong with the receiver. You should never have to turn a receiver to max.

What brand/model receiver do you have? And was it purchased new or used?

How EXACTLY did you make these connections....please list cable type and the labels of what jacks you used. Also, did this receiver work before, and do you have any other devices to test it (such as a CD player or something)?

All the jacks work on the reciever, except when i connect either the computer or the TV to it. For the computer, i used the RCA cable with the mini jack, going from the audio jack behinf the computer into the red and white jack in the front of the reciever labeled "Video 3." And for the TV I also used an RCA cable from the red and white jack behind the TV to the all the ports behind the reciever: Video1, Video2, TV/Sat, Phono....None of them wok.

Computer -- maybe a silly question but are you 100% sure you are using the line out jack? Have you gone into the sound mixer and turned up the line output?

TV -- have you enabled fixed audio out on the TV?

If you tell us what you have we may be able to tell you how it should be configured!!

Thats what you plug the computer speakers into, right?

This happened to me, i think you are using the 2.5mm jack from the sound card and split that to two RCAs, (thats what I did) the computer if giving off tons of interference, hence the buzzing noise.

Sounds like you need to get a better sound card with a digital output.
