Does anyone know if this game will be in HD? The ESPN/ABC website was of no help. It isn't listed in the HD Sports Guide so I'm not optimistic.

Wolfie Thanks for your courteous, thoughtful, and temperate remark. By the way, how did Bama make out against Georgia and Florida State? And how did Auburn do against South Florida and Mississippi State? The Big 12 is a mess right now but neither OU nor Texas has two losses yet, so it might not be a bad idea to keep in mind the old saying about stones and glass houses. :) steverobertson 10-02-07, 03:49 PM Not looking good for fans of the Big 12: Iowa at Penn State 2:30 p.m. ABC (HD) / ESPN2 (HD) North Carolina State at Florida State 2:30 p.m. ABC (HD) / ESPN2 (HD) Oklahoma vs. Texas (Dallas, TX) 2:30 p.m. ABC / ESPN-GP Wow how the mighty have fallen mullet34 10-02-07, 03:54 PM Thanks for your courteous, thoughtful, and temperate remark. Ours (KOCO.com) in OKC shows the game will be in HD on the digital channel. homcom 10-02-07, 03:59 PM Not looking good for fans of the Big 12: Iowa at Penn State 2:30 p.m. ABC (HD) / ESPN2 (HD) North Carolina State at Florida State 2:30 p.m. ABC (HD) / ESPN2 (HD) Oklahoma vs. Texas (Dallas, TX) 2:30 p.m. ABC / ESPN-GP Other sites indicate that this information is incorrect. gwsat 10-02-07, 04:22 PM Two very overrated teams in my book but should still be a decent game but I am sure I will watch the SEC game seeing it is the premeir CFB conference Actually, the consensus seems to be that the SEC is down, too, and that the best football is being played in the Pac Ten these days. Considering that Florida got beat by a two loss Auburn team and that Alabama has two losses, Nick Saban or no Nick Saban, the SEC has problems of its own. LSU still has to get by Florida and Kentucky. Kentucky is off to a good start, although the Louisville win looks less meaningful now than it did at the time. I can’t see Kentucky ending up without a loss or two, at least. Kentucky’s defense is suspect. They rank 69th in total defense in the NCAA. I concede that the Big 12 is down this year. OU has fallen to number 10 in both polls, Texas is barely in the top 20 and is an 11 point underdog to OU. Thus, it’s a little hard to say that Texas, at least, is “overrated” right now, it seems to me. I hope the bettors are right but that’s not how it usually plays out. Anyway, OU’s and Texas’s losses last weekend remind me of something Barry Switzer used to say: “It’ just a short walk from the palace to the outhouse.” It’s probably a mistake to make too much of OU’s loss to Colorado in Boulder. Colorado won up there a couple of times in the ‘70s, too, but OU still ended up being ranked in the top 5 both times. Boulder is a very tough place to go play and Colorado is a well coached young team. Parity, it stinks! :) Finally, thanks to those of you who ferreted out the information that the game is, indeed, likely to be shown in HD. jpr281 10-02-07, 04:27 PM Here is the coverage map for which areas of the US will be getting what games: http://graphics.fansonly.com/photos/schools/big12/sports/m-footbl/auto_pdf/TV_CLEARANCES.pdf And it looks like OU vs UT and Iowa vs PSU will be in HD, while NC State vs FSU will not be in HD. steverobertson 10-02-07, 04:28 PM Actually the game is not in HD from what I can see but I just saw another site stating that it is so who knows? The PAC 10 is very good conference no doubt about that I like watching them play as well. The SEC may in fact be a little down this year but I also think the conference has a lot to do with that in that they just beat up on each other every game. I guess what I like about the SEC is the tradition and great rivaleries that exist and the stadiunms that just are electrifying and actually comes through on the tv. CFB is the best sport out there and love watching it all mdonnelly 10-02-07, 04:28 PM Strangely enough, the Austin affiliate (KVUE) has TBA for the teams on Saturday at 2:30. homcom 10-02-07, 04:37 PM Strangely enough, the Austin affiliate (KVUE) has TBA for the teams on Saturday at 2:30. CFB is the best sport out there and love watching it all Amen! College football is, indeed, a world of fun. It has been my favorite sport by a bunch ever since I was a kid. Even the arguments about which conference is “best” are fun. It’s true that parity tends to make a conference look weaker than it probably really is. When OU and Texas were the goliaths of the Big 12 and the North Division was weak everybody was talking about how powerful the conference was. Now folks are saying that it’s gone to hell simply because, on the same weekend, Colorado, which won a national championship in the ‘80s, beat OU and Kansas State, which came one game short of playing for one in 1998, defeated Texas. This could be the year when a two loss team, maybe two teams with two losses, play for the Big 12 Championship. hancox 10-02-07, 05:23 PM Boston will be "thrilled" with their ridiculous ACC association, and getting the barn burner of the Criminoles and their former HC duking it out! :D 007rbm 10-03-07, 11:39 AM TX-OU was broadcast in HD last year and is always carried by one of the networks - ABC, CBS. . . It seems the real question that has been answered is that the game has been pushed to regional coverage. I’m Sooner born and Sooner bred, and when I die, I’ll be Sooner dead, so I’m not an objective observer. God knows. Still, something interesting was called to my attention earlier today that could bode well for the OU football team’s future: They lost come from behind heartbreakers by 1, 2, or 3 points on essentially the last play of the game to Texas Tech in 2005, to Oregon and Boise State in 2006, and to Colorado last week. If those losses had been wins, OU would be 25-1 over the last 26 games. The clear cut loss was to Texas, who won last year’s game going away. Yeah, I know, “woulda, shoulda, coulda.” Still, it’s a fun fact, which gives me some reason for optimism. I would love for it to be a boring laugher – so long as the Sooners can do the laughing -- because I’m getting too old for too much excitement. :) I submit that Dan Jenkins, late of Ft. Worth and TCU, coined the true correct name for Texas in the title of his comic masterpiece, “Baja Oklahoma.” Johnny 10-05-07, 03:40 AM http://www.rivalwear.com/ProductImages/mini-mini-Rivalwear.Saw'EmOff..jpg |
