Hi All,
My house was burglarized last night. The front door was kicked in just right after the sunset in the Saint Petersburg/Tampa Bay area. I lost my beloved TH50PH9UK, 27" Sylvania LCD, a laptop and a 9mm handgun. I am mad as hell but what can I do. Do you think I should call Panasonic and have them post some notes on the unit just in case some stupid idiots who happened to buy the stolen plasma and decided to use the extended warranty service that is still valid until 2011. In the meantime, I will be hitting couple pawn shops around my area to see if my plasma would show up. I still have the serial number on hand through Panasonic department.
Thanks for listening to my rants.......

Sam

Sorry to hear that :( It will come back around. There was another poster that had their 5070HD stolen in Orlando area a couple months ago but the insurance took care of it.

Thanks Roman, but I don't have a renter insurance so it will be out of my own pocket.

The tough part is that I don't think there are any of them left anywhere.

Yikes - that sucks. I hope you notified the police about it (especially since a handgun was stolen).

It's kinda like shutting the barn door after the cows are out - but here in PA Renters Insurance is dirt cheap. I just wrote my buddy a Renters policy with a $40,000 Personal Property limit with a $250 deductible (replacement cost basis) and a $300,000 Personal Liability limit for $74 for the year. Plus - you normally get a discount on your auto insurance if you carry renters or homeowners with the same company. Definitely worth considering.

I know what you mean Bill. I wasn't aware of renter insurance until I was advised by some friends after this happened. As for the handgun, yeah I did make the report with the local police.

The only positive thing about it is that you now have an excuse to buy a Pioneer Kuro ;-)

Yep, that is a possibility in the near future.

Well, considering there's a pawn shop on just about every corner in Tampa (I used to live there), that could take you awhile!

Sorry to hear about your loss man. Make sure you get renter's insurance ASAP though.

Actually, it's still on Costco's website for a pretty attractive price...

Another reason that legally owned handguns should have some sort of microchip security device, whether to track it if stolen or to prevent its use.

Some thug's got a new gun now...

My heart goes out to you. I lost a pair of Infinity Kappa 9's and about 3,000 dollars worth of Carver gear when I was 20. I also didn't know about renters insurance at the time and the total loss was over 6 grand when you factored in the 300 CD's they also took. You never really get over the feeling of being violated and it's about the suckiest thing that can happen.

One "good" thing that happened was I discovered who did it like 10 years after the fact. One of them was killed in prison and the other was a deadend crackhead who's also probably dead by now too. Freaking stealing scumbags.

Bin.Cue,
Thanks, buddy. The weidest thing is that they only target the plasma and the lcd in my masterbedroom. They didn't even touch my Paradigm, Peavey speakers, HK AVR 7000 and many others electronic stuffs. It was probably a quick grab and out.

Sam,
I am sorry to hear about your situation, however, it was better that they took a TV rather than your life. You can always replace a plasma anytime. In the end, you shall benefit!

Very sorry to hear of your loss, I know it feels awful to have something taken from your home. I have the TH50PH9UK as well and I would hate to lose mine that way.

A very nice offer from Cleveland Plasma.

It's too bad renter's insurance isn't more well-known because it is so cheap.

Watch Craigslist too. Lots of stolen merchandise winds up there.

Can you post your serial number Plasma_Plasma?

You never know; someone might come across it.
