I have several mpeg2 videos on a dvd-r (possibly on a flash drive too) and want them stored on my PS3. How big of a file will the PS3 read and store, I remember reading that there was some form of limitation? The video is 480p and 5.1 audio.
Also can I copy a file from a dvd-r onto the PS3 or does it have to be a usb flash drive?

there is a 4gb file size limit due to the format of the hard drive.it will not see anything over that size. 5.1 audio will automatically be downsampled to 2.0 as the XMB doesn't allow 5.1...yet. hopefully a firmware update will fix this someday. you can use a dvdr or a flash drive. make a folder named "VIDEO" and drop your files in there
You can get bigger files on the internal PS3 hard disk but you have to copy them over the network. Someone on Doom9 was saying yesterday that playing back a 20 gb file from the internal HDD works.
