Kansas City, with an SD game this week, falls of the list of teams with all games in HD, bringing that total to 20 teams.
Only 5 teams have had less then 75% of their games in HD.
-Arizona (3/5)
-Baltimore (3/5)
-Cleveland (2/5)
-Houston (3/5)
-Jacksonville (2/4)
GeorgeLV 10-02-07, 09:41 PM Wow, the CBS early game match ups are so poor that there's no clear "game of the week".
RussTC3 10-02-07, 09:42 PM Finally, the Browns in HD again.
Pretty good coverage too.

Those two points are not totally unrelated.
NortheasternPJ 10-03-07, 07:26 AM They're also playing the Patriots. I think every Patriots game has been in HD for a few years now. The last one I remember not is a game they played Week 3? a few years ago in Arizona.
ncxcstud 10-03-07, 07:40 AM Didn't CBS have the double header last week? I thought they switched week to week...
Unless it was only a double header in my area (Lexington, SC) based off of silly 'rules'
DeathFromAbove 10-03-07, 08:08 AM CBS is totally ignoring Giants/Jets fans in CT. Wouldn't they want to show the most competitive game for the market, which is certainly not Patriots/Browns? The Patriots are favored by 16, the Giants are favored by 3, I would think the ratings would be better if they showed Giants/Jets.

The Patriots last game in SD was week 15 of last year, versus Houston. It was their only SD game of 2006.

Yes, CBS did have the doubleheader last week. Each network gets 9 doubleheader per season (both have a doubleheader in week 17). CBS will have the doubleheader next week as well. It does not flip-flop. They do this for a variety of reason including better promotion and to work around other commitments the networks have such as the US Open and MLB playoffs.

During the sports report the other night on WFSB, channel 3, Joe Zone said the Jets play the Giants Sunday on CBS but they will be showing the Patriots game because they are in the Patriots market. He said he wanted to get that out there because he knows they will get phone calls. I am fortunate because I get both the NY and Hartford stations where I live, but I can tell you that WFSB always shows the Patriots over the Jets.

He can claim they are in the Patriots market if he wants, but as you may know Connecticut is a great big mess of fans, I have friends who are Patriots, Jets, and Giants fans who are scattered throughout the state. As you get closer to MA you will certainly get a higher concentration of Patriots fans, but for him to say they are in the Patriots market just seems inaccurate. CBS can do what they want, but I would have thought the NFL and the networks would have made some sort of provision for situations similar to this one, that would allow the other network, FOX, to carry the other game.

Doesn't work that way. The road team controls the TV broadcast. Since the Jets are the road team the game is on CBS. You must be, like me, a Giants fan. Since there is no NFC team in New England the CT FOX station always shows the Giants, but WFSB only shows the Jets if they aren't showing the Pats. This is the only Giants game on CBS this season. Their game against the Pats is on NFL Network.

Well you got me, I'm a Giants fan. I would imagine the Jets fans are annoyed by this also. Looks like I'll be heading down to a friends in Milford, he gets the New York CBS as well as the CT one.
to be 'very' clear...
CT is (likely) a New England Pat's secondary market - which means they actually have to only show road games....
(there is only 1 primary market per team (2 for GB - GB and Milwaukee) that has to show all 16 games (as long as the home games are sold out... Boston is the primary market for the Pats)
If they wanted to - they could show the Giants-Jets game instead... as they have no 100% official requirement to show the Pats @ home... (but it still makes sense - as the CT market is probably more Pats fans than Jets or Giants fans...)
First post updated with Fox map and a correction of an error on my part.
hokiefan 10-03-07, 10:53 PM Is it me or do most of those games sound like snooze fests? Especially CBS's late games. I'm a Raven's fan and I bet even I have trouble keeping interest in playing Arizona.
OrleansDawg 10-03-07, 11:10 PM Can someone tell me why Indy/TB has a section in Texas?
Can someone tell me why Indy/TB has a section in Texas?
The section in Texas is Houston. FOX can not show a game at 1 PM because Houston is at home on CBS at the same time, thus FOX will show their only 4 PM game in Houston. This is true in all of the home markets in which CBS has a 1PM game.
jambroni 10-04-07, 08:17 AM Sweet,
I will be able to watch 7 of these games this weekend, without ST !!
Miami at Houston is the only CBS game I will not get.

I get east coast and west coast distant nets via four current waivers from the Cols markets.....
This weekend has been the best for me thus far....

Arizona plays in the early slot this week, and the Ravens are in San Fran.
Are you sure you're not a week behind? :p
why are they showing Giants vs Jets in the SF Bay area?
humdinger70 10-04-07, 05:04 PM LA just switched over to Giants/Jets (from Jax/KC) today.
CDRACING 10-05-07, 05:54 AM Wow Carolina vs Saints lol. Thought Fox had double hitter and we were gonna get the Tampa vs Indy game at 4pm. But got another dang San Diego game at 4pm on CBS. The chargers have been on like every weekend, feels almost like a home team now lol.

We here in Knoxville, TN finally get a CBS game without a non-HD Titans game (they are on Fox this week) and in it's place we get the only non-HD game of the week between the Jaguars and Chiefs. Looks like I'll be watching most of the NASCAR race.
hdjeff724 10-05-07, 06:31 PM Looks like I'll be going to a bar to watch the Giants/Jets game. I need to go someplace that has satellite because CBS is showing the Patriots in my area instead.

Maybe that's why the games are so boring for him - he's watching empty stadiums... ;)
all4naught 10-06-07, 06:45 PM Just Fyi...
A change this morning with the Mia-Hou game no longer being broadcast in HD. Whether or not CBS replaces it with Jax-KC remains to be seen.

What information do you have to support that CBS is not doing this game in HD?
I see it has been removed for the Sunday Ticket schedule on the D* website. I wonder if D* is taking this game off of Sunday Ticket HD to free up a channel for TBS in MPEG-2 for the MLB playoffs.
I have updated the ST channel numbers with the new ones from the D* website.
Currently the Miami / Houston game is not listed with an HD ST channel number. I would suspect that if this game is not offered in HD it is because of TBS in MPEG-2 for the MLB playoffs.

You can read the blackout, primary & secondary rules listed in the FAQ in the bottom of this page: http://www.the506.com/nflmaps/
Try being a Eagles or Steelers fan living in the state capital of Pennsylvania and being in the Baltimore Ravens market.
Unfortunetly for you, the NFL, not CBS, designated WFSB as the Pats market. I luck out b/c Cablevison (and Charter) in Fairfield County get both the NY and CT broadcasts of all the networks and I often get 3-4 different games a week on CBS and FOX during the 1 & 4 timeslots.
CBS can do what they want, but I would have thought the NFL and the networks would have made some sort of provision for situations similar to this one, that would allow the other network, FOX, to carry the other game
They did, NFL Sunday Ticket.
This is the only Giants game on CBS this season. Their game against the Pats is on NFL Network.
That game will also be on local channels. It'll be interesting to see if it's a Fox or CBS game since is a Pats road game, but technically those rules don't apply.
I think last years Redskins @ Giants game on NFL Network was on Fox WNYW in the NYC area. Although maybe it was channel 9 (MyNetworks) or 11 (CW), if so you can disregard my rant above.

It was on WNBC in NY - as it had the rights.
local market stations have no Network connections when obtaining the rights to ESPN or NFL Network games.
BTW, with St. Louis blacked out of the Rams game because of a non-sellout, that game will only be seen in 3% of the country. That is the smallest percentage for any NFL game I can remember.
PsycloneJack 10-07-07, 01:05 PM DirectTV guide showing Saints/Panthers but Im seeing the Steelers game. Must be an error on the guide.
MrSmartyAss 10-07-07, 04:31 PM I paid over $300 for NFL ST + SF HD .... and D* has now all this new MPEG-4 channel capacity.. and no HOU vs MIA in HD and IND vs BUCS joined in progress crap!!!!
I am mighty P*O* !

Could not say it better... I am a loyal dolphins fan and I pay 300 bucks (even if they did lose again) to watch in SD... Not too happy right now...

They did not. It didn't look like much of a game anyway.

Just to be clear, CBS did the Miami / Houston game in HD, only D* ST did not carry the game in HD.
