I have managed to crack the screen on my PT-56TW53 Panisonic TV with a pair of keys while playing with my son.
So I was wondering if anyone can give me info on what it takes to replace the screen and if it is a dual layered screen. I think that it's a dual layer where the first screen is just a protector.

Also dose anyone know where I can get the screen.
I have not been able to find a source that sales them.

If it is the protector? You can usually just pull it off and be good to go again. well until the next mishapp anyways. :) Often times you need to put some spacers in there to pull it out.

If it is through both screens where do I get another screen from?
What are the spacers used for? I am thinking that I will need to put in the spacers to fill in the gap that is created from the screen that I am removing.

Right now I am on the border line of dumping the TV and getting a new one because someone told me that the screen will cost half as much as the TV. But I find that hard to belive because I have brought screen material for projectors and it is not that expensive.

The spacers are needed when you pull the protector out to firmly hold the lenticular in place without the thickness of the protector screen in place.

If it's both screens? Well sorry to say cost wise, I think you will be buying a new display.

If it's just the protector screen can I replace it with plexi glass or some other plastic?

The replacement would still need, Ok well should still be of optical grade. Anything less will really do a number on the image in my opinion. I'd just leave it off if there is no damage to the lenticular.

There are or at leats used to be external screen protectors you could buy the RP's, do some searches on of these on the outside and your way good to go with it.
