wheredabebotat 10-03-07, 12:47 PM bought a Panasonic 50PX75U 3 weeks ago and I noticed this x pattern from the screen last night (shown on pics). Any idea what is causing this?

JuiceRocket 10-03-07, 12:55 PM I can see a reflection of what appears to be a door and some chairs, and a X like pattern over it.
What part of the image is showing the shadow? Is the shadow visible on all of your inputs? When you say shadow, do you mean a specific portion of your screen appears darker/dimmer than the rest?

I meant, the x pattern over the screen. I thought it was a reflection from the room but it visible across the screen when the screen is black
JuiceRocket 10-03-07, 12:59 PM Good question - I don't know what it is!
Is it only visible when you have the TV on and there is a black area in an image (for example, a dark sky or heavy shadows), or is it only visible when the TV is on with no input (just showing black)?

mbroadus 10-03-07, 01:01 PM I would call to have it replaced since you are at 3 weeks. I can see the pattern you are talking about and all I know is that its not suppose to be there. Have it replaced quickly!

Visible when there are no image or dark images, on or off.?
suitcase 10-03-07, 01:05 PM This is just a complete guess, but I think it might be some sort of antireflective coating. Does the model have this as a "feature"?
I've noticed similar patterns with my car's window tint if I'm wearing polarized sun glasses. Thus, my guess.
tower101 10-03-07, 02:32 PM Return the TV it should not be there. If you see it now you will most likey always see it and it will bug you.
The PX75u I had did not have this nor did the PX77u or the PZ77u that I now have.
wheredabebotat 10-03-07, 05:20 PM I went to Sears and CC to look at the same panels and all of them have the same issue
tower101 10-03-07, 05:49 PM Strange never noticed it, now I probably will  Sometime I hate this place :D
wheredabebotat 10-03-07, 05:56 PM strangely, the 1080p model did not have it. Even the 42 model have the same issue
tower101 10-03-07, 06:09 PM Now that is stange as they "should" be using the same type of anti-glare, but at-least I can rest easy as I have the PZ. :)
optivity 10-03-07, 09:01 PM bought a Panasonic 50PX75U 3 weeks ago and I noticed this x pattern from the screen last night (shown on pics). Any idea what is causing this?Have you seen this pattern with other programs and on different channels? Sometimes issues like these are related to how the original content was produced, captured on video/film.
To me it looks like there was some bad lighting that caused a reflection or pattern to become visible on the lens of the camera during filming.

As previously stated, all the panels that I went to look at yesterday at CC and Sears had the same pattern on the glass.
Needless to say, I returned the tv and bought the TH-50PZ700U instead. Thank you for all the informative replies.
