Hey i just purchased this new TV and i did some web browsing about warranties. I came across Nwvdirect.com and i did a search for their big selection of TV warranties and i nailed it down with either Warrant Tech or Repair tech. So my question is does anyone here have either of these warrantys on their TV's?

If so are they reliable or any good?

Price isnt the issue here as NWV has awesome prices but im looking for feedback for each company.

Thanks in advance,
J

Warrentech is a terrible company. They will give you the run around like no other. They were so bad that a major retail store dropped them as their warranty provider due to customer complaints.

I personally don't have one, but I've heard good things about Warrantech. Several people on AVS have purchased lamp warranties and posted good things about them.

EDIT: I typed this before Mr. Venk posted, but his is the first negative post I've read about them (although any people having problems with them may not be posting about it).

WHOA!

I purchased a Warrantech/Repair Master 3yr Bulb warranty from Projector People when I purchased my HD70 last year. I had to exercise my warranty last month and although I was very reluctant, my bulb was replaced with minimal hassles.

They even replaced my bulb before the original one was completely dead. It didnt cost me a dime.

Thats my experience with Warrantech/Repair Master.

My experience with Warrentech has been very positive. Had one bulb replacement and then a complete light engine replaced.

I guess since that major retail store allegedly dropped them they are not giving anymore hassles.

My parents have WarrenTech (thru Ultimate Electronics) on their Mitsu DLP and they had no hassles getting a new bulb, nor did they have trouble getting the TV serviced by the local Mitsu repair guy when the TV needed to be worked on.

Warrant Tech is a HORRIBLE company. I bought an extended warranty for my refrigerator. This is the second time in 6 months they have sent someone out to fix it-- rather than replacing it. I have been without a refrigerator of 3 weeks because of their inefficiency. Whenever I call them, I am on hold for at least 30 minutes before a real person answers. Don't buy their warranty!

WTH does that have to do with sub $3k projectors?

I bought a warrantech warranty for my last projector purchase, and will definitely do so again if possible! They replace my bulb twice in 3 years, only asked a few common questions to confirm the bulb actually needed to be replaced. I had the bulb within 3 days and just had to pack the old bulb in the box and ship it back with the pre-paid shipping label. I paid $100 for the warranty, and received 2 bulbs with a combined value of about $700.

Just realized this thread was 3 years old, about the time same time I bought the warranty.

Another positive vote for Warrentech. Have used them for lamp replacement and extended warranty on our Optoma HD80. The color wheel died on the PJ a few months ago and Warrantech took care of it, no hassles (well, one minofr blip - they had me send it to a repair place in Denver but those people could not get the part from Optoma so it ended going to Optoma for repair). Seriously, I read bad things about most warranty companies but two projectors, four replacement lamps, and one color wheel later I can still recommend Warrantech.
