Hi folks,
I've searched around the web and the forums to no avail.
I have the pioneer DVR 550 model and I'm quite pleased with it, except for two things
1. A minor issue is that when the recorder boots up it always displays the annoying message of HDCP error .
2. What is worse worse, and a major thing IMHO is that the recorder is hooked up to an LG LCD TV ( 720p) via HDMI cable and RGB. The image quality via RGB is far far better then when using HDMI input :( which basically drives me nuts. I thought that via HDMI I should get a better picture.
I tried playing around with the settings of the TV/recorder, but nothing seems to work so far. not sure if any firmware upgrade is needed or what.

Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

When there is an HDCP error, it means the normal communication for HDCP did not occur so the connection defaults to 480.

Try disconnecting the Component cables and see if that allows HDCP compatibility and a better pic? (Turn both units off, then disconnect, then turn back on.)

Thanks for the prompt response ,
I tried removing the component cables and leaving the hdmi cable only, but was not of much help.
I will go back and try a different hdmi cable, although I'm not suspecting the cables, I bought the ones in Costco which usually carry very reliable stuff.

Thanks for the tip anyways

Cheers
