Quick question to anyone who owns or has used either the DVR-550H or 650H:

Can they zoom on video?

The online PDF manual (the Europe manual - there isn't one on the Pioneer Canada website) says they can zoom on JPEG photos in the Photo Viewer, but no mention of zooming on video. Also, I recently tried a Sony RDR HX750/HX950, which I suspect might be essentially the same machine internally, and these can't zoom on video, only JPEG photos. ALl DVD players/recorders I've used in the past, even cheap ones, can zoom on video.

I don't have either model, but since I do have last year's 640 and no one else is answering I'll chime in: No, I don't think they zoom on video, just photos. You'll have to use your TV for that if it's capable. Most recorders are a little shorter on playback features than players, although IMHO Pioneers have all the most important features.

I didn't know that some TVs have built-in zoom. My current tube TV can't, though I will be getting a larger LCD eventually. Zoom is such a basic feature that every player/recorder should have it, I don't get it, especially in one costing $500 ($450 on sale).

I'm considering buying this unit, but I need to know if it's capable of two things:
1. Capatibility with my Rogers Digital Cable box
2. Recording on program, while watching another program (both with digital signals)

Can anyone help me with this?
