I'm about to upgrade to a projector (mainly for gaming and some bluray movies) and after reading, was wondering if the new Panasonic-pt-ax200 would be a better choice or should I go with a 1080p pj? My ps3 and 360 both do 1080p so i kinda want to go that route but i'm a little worried now about how much ghosting and/or lag is visable (if any) on 1080 pj's compared to the new panny. Any help would be great.

I don't think ghosting and lag would be issues at all...its the other aspects that will matter...price vs. performance and which features you need.
The review over at projectorcentral said that the gaming mode boots the video processing to 0.3ms. The film/cinema modes have a 0.9ms delay. I have been considering the same issue and think that we might be spliting hairs here. The average human reaction time is much longer than that so I don't think it's going to bee much of an issue.
Think of it this way @ 60 Hz it takes 1.67ms per frame. A difference of 0.6ms in processing time isn't going to give you a real world difference in performance. The disclaimer here is I haven't done any gaming on a PJ before, but I'm thinking strictly in numbers here.

sounds about right...i knw i can tell a difference between 20 ms gaming (ping) and 50 ms gaming...not sure how others are, but I would guess the most sensitive person in the world could tell a 10-15 ms difference in response time..
With blurring, it's a little different. If you game on a 16ms refresh lcd you can see it blur, game on a 2ms and it's a lot tighter picture...

Don't forget one undesirable effect of gaming on a PJ is the fact you will be SLOWER in reacting, (although probably in FPS type games and perhaps others). Reason is your eyes have to pan a much larger surface area to gather enough data to react. I am far far slower in FPS games that I play on the PS3 online on my Epson 1080. Altough simulations look awesome and are even better played on the PJ, for all other gaming I bring the PS3 to my LCD 1080 screen where I excel a lot more with reaction times.

It's probably the viewing distance there that matters. You probably sit at a closer viewing distance to your PJ than you do to your flat panel, relatively. You get a much more immersive experience that way, but are slower in reaction time, i guess. That's a welcome trade-off, in my opinion. Gaming is supposed to be immersive... its all about the experience.
Theoretically, there are other gaming advantages to a smaller screen for gaming. Even if seating distance was exactly the same 1.5x between a 100" projector image and a 24" flat panel lcd image, you will have much more "on thefly" flexibility with the smaller screen.. you'll be able to adjust between 1.0x and 2.0x screen width viewing distance just by moving your head back and fourth. like sometimes you need to examine a particular part of the screen for some minute details (an enemy hiding in the distance) and sometimes the action ismoving really fast and a a wide angle is better. With a pj, youcant really get up and adjust your distance that quiicly.
