I was adjusting my green astigmatism magnets tonight per Curt's guide, and as I did, the raster positioning would change along with the 2 pole magnets. I'm talking around 1ft on the screen both vertically and horizontally. Is this normal? Should I just recenter the raster when I'm done?
The green astig needed adjustments badly. At 100% contrast the crosshair line had a downward right flare 2x the thickness of the normal line . Now it's much better, but not perfect. Down to the HT with binoculars I go to finish up...thanks!

Yes its normal. If you move the mechanical astig to will move raster centering, also vise versa. Go back and forth until astig is optimized and raster centering is where you need it.
Set static to mid point first. Doug

Okay thanks. I got astig pretty good. The dots are round but flare a bit if I change the electronic focus. It's good enough until I get someone to do a full calibration, and it's much much better than before.

Nautikal,
On the green this will be important to get right or near perfect. Its the foundation for the image quality and stability. Green is your reference. Doug

You'll know when it's correct when you can ramp the electronic focus fully in both directions and the dot or crosshatch does not move on the screen. When you think you've got it correct, put up a center cross pattern. Take a piece of easy release tape and place it on the center cross. Mark the cross on the tape. Ramp the focus and see if the projected cross and the marked cross stay together. If they do, you're good to go.

... or use a laser pointer if you have one laying around. Much easier than messing around with sticky pieces of paper
Cheers :)
