im getting my first projector. i went to local best buy with intentions on getting the sony.while there one clerk comes in and says "the sony is the worst the mitsubishi is the best then left at that" then after playing with them for a bit (in a totally lit room) another clerk came in and said he prefers the sony and plays games and movies which is what i would use it for.any opinions from those who have the machines would help. the sony is about 3 hundred more(seems to be the case with every sony product) but i dont mind the price as long as it is worth the extra.thanks

sony will have darker blacks
Mits will have less creen door at close distances and will be much much brioghter
i did notice the mits was brighter in best buy --quite a bit but most of my viewing if not all will be in basement at night just for movies and games.which one has the better quality controls and visuals??
i had both, the aw15 and the hd1000. (same as hc1500)
i prefered the hd1000 because the picture is much more brillant and you get a lot of lumens @ 65k colors. the aw15 seemed to me not as well built as the hs60 either. if your after shadow details and a bright picture , i would get the hd1000. If you're after deep blacks i would definitely get the aw15.
remember: you could also use a gray screen, you will get much better blacks with the hd1000! hd1000 can even be used in ambient light conditions.
if your are not sensitive to rbe, you will get better colors with dlp.
make sure to check if you can install the mitsu in your basement. it has a large offset.
