I was wondering if anyone had anything new to report re: the "copper wire fix" originally proposed by DMI to solve the sticky iris problem on the Panasonic AX-100. I have not had this problem yet but can imagine it happening sometime during the Christmas holidays when my projector usage peaks. Certainly this would not be a good time to have to send the projector in for repairs!
Specifically:
(1) Has anyone who has tried the fix found it not to work?
(2) Has anyone who has tried it found that it worked for awhile but that it stopped working?
(My concern would be that physically obstructing the iris might damage it in the long run.)
If I don't hear anything negative, I will use the fix if and when the problem occurs.
Thanks.

We are working on this issue right now. Panasonic ran pre-production 'board' samples for 'double' the average usage a consumer might encounter and every sample 'passed' the grade.

What is puzzling about the situation is that only a small percentage of the units we are getting in have a mechanical iris issue. The software bugs acount for more.:confused::confused::confused:

Those software bugs have nothing to do with the iris issue, correct? I know there is a flicker issue at lower brightnesses, but I always run my projector at full brightness.
Are you aware of DMI's solution? He seemed to think that the iris just opens too far
and the problem can be corrected by physically limiting the iris opening.
I am also curious if the bugs you are seeing (iris problem, flicker) have all been corrected on the AX200.
And at any time has Panasonic acknowledged that there is an iris issue?
Thanks Frank.

The iris is told what to do and how to do it by the installed software. Mechanically all the units that we have disasembled show no iris design defects.
Panasonic does know about the related problems.

I have 3 projectors and one of them is the 100 model. My unit works flawlessly after 500hrs.
