I have had a few people tell me that within the next 3 years that i would probably be able to get a a 1080 p dlp projector for under 2000 , ???

I was at target tonight and they had a nice , big 1080 p optomo projector for 2600 bucks

Im a poor boy haha, and well , I have never seen a 1080 p projector in person , and Im happy with my 480 p 4805 projector so Im sure that in the future if i got a 1080 p projector , I would be happy

There really isnt anywhere tha tI know of around me that has 1080 p projectors on display

I love the HUGE image that projectors make, and I would like to have a lcd flatscreen , but the price of some of those 1080 p tvs are just as expensive if not more expensive than the 1080 p projectors thats already out now.

and for my use, I think I would like the projector better, due to the face you can make the picture as big as you want////

on a 1080 projector , is the color ect. and sharpeness better than standard 480 p like on my infocus 4805

I would really like to purchase a 1080 p tv , but I think im goign to stick it out , and stick money back for a year or two (it goes by fast) and then get me a 1080 p projector

Hello

I've been using projectors for the last four years or so now and my opinion is that unless you watch HD material, any projector will do. 100" 480p will do as good as 720p if the material is in 480p. But then two projectors can have two different ways of dealing with the picture, as you say the sharpness, colors and contrast (with other factors) differ and the result will therefor also be different. But resolution isnt everything, for the last four years the lcd- market has been at 720p all the time (Sanyo Z2 up to current versions and their likes) and my current projector Mitsubishi HC1100 is as well. However, the overall imagequality has improved.

I was in the same dilemma. I had an epson home 20 480p which I was happy with. I upgraded to an acer ph530 for 599 new off of tigerdirect.... OMG the output is 10x better.. and it is very very bright for a dlp HT projector. I sold my old epson ebay for about 400 so it cost me about the price of a lamp replacement to upgrade.

It also has hdmi.

If you wait until the 1080p come down in price your 4805 might be worth next to nothing by then.. you may want to upgrade earlier.

As far as it looking the same.. that is what I thought.. but many movies are much better.. the difference isn't the detail but the complete lack of SDE when going to a 720p

well i would eventually buy either a hd dvd player or a blu ray player , plus on a 1080 p projector y dvds should look better on them since i have a upscaling dvd player

of course we are talking awnile yet

probably 2.5 years, and hopefully i get a better job by then , lol

dont make much right now

HD looks great on a 480p projector. The source material has many more picture pleasing advantages other than a resolution advantage which diminishes as viewing distance increases.

I personally am a fan of 480p projectors for all viewing short of a full on HD nature or space program.:D

The 4805 threads have quite a following. Many screen shots show amazing detail and colors.
