Okay, newb here. I just purchased my first projector, a Acer PH530. Really diggin' it so far. I have it on a tripod (that I usually use for my digital still camera) located behind the couch, about 11-12 ft. away from the wall it's projected on (still researching screens).
My question, is it better to ceiling mount or tripod? One thing I've noticed on a tripod is I don't have to use the keystoneing (sp?) quite so much, which I've heard degrades the picture quality a little. From the ceiling (9') I have to angle the PJ down a lot.
Anyway, any feedback would be much appreciated, thanks.

I haven't yet. That's why I'm asking. Should I ceiling mount or use a tripod?

It shouldnt make a difference unless you are using a screen made for one or the other.

You mean there are screens specifically made for ceiling or tripod mounting of a PJ?

No anywhere you mount it will be fine , And any screen will work regardless whether you use a cieling mount or tripod.
I am using a Draper V elite screen with my Acer..

How do you prevent excessive keystone effect when it is mounted so close to the ceiling?

By mounting it upside down and reversing the image, Read Your Manual!

Okay Lou, I have my manual out, it speaks very little about keystone effect, other that how to use the remote to adjust for it.
From what I've read on this board and other places online, tilting a PJ will cause keystone, using the remote to adjust for it degrades the resolution.
I have a 9' ceiling, and would like a 100" projected image. I know I have to mount the about 13' away for this size image. My question is how far from the ceiling will it have to hang for the best image quality?
I'm sorry, maybe I haven't been making myself clear, that plus this is my first PJ.
I have just realized the lens does not shoot the image straight out, but out and up (if on a table) or when flipped upsidedown, out and down.

Ceiling or wall mount projector. It will be upside down. Do you have a screen? Better to mount your screen first, then let screen height dictate projector placement. You should not have to use keystone.
