I'm just looking for something sleek yet functional. I'm just looking for 2 speakers, no subwoofer. I do want pretty good sound though of course. Are there any recommendations? I haven't been checking out speakers in over 2 years.

I'm not going to spend over $500 for a set of speakers for my pc.

I will tell you NOT something to get :) . Please stay away from Logitech Z-5300e set, I liked my older x-230 more then I did them.

As a recommendations, you are probably better off getting a cheap receiver like a Panasonic xr55 for about $180 shipped or less. I found mine at amazon.com from a marketplaceseller. Then find a pair of bookshelf speakers you might be interested in. You total cost will be less than $400 and give you some HIGH quality sound compared to all PC Speakers. I made a quick example below. You can use the S/PDIF out from your motherboard, and if you don't have one add $20 for a cheap sound card from newegg.com that has one.

Check out the Swan m200 speakers from theaudioinsider. I just got a pair about a week ago. They are simply outstanding in sound quality and are very elegant looking. They are 199 but well worth the money. The only downsides are that they are slightly bigger than the typical computer speaker and are rear ported which means you should leave some room between the back of the speaker and the wall.
