Hi all,

I'm reading a lot about harddisk media players on forums like these.
But i still can't find what i'm looking for.

I'm looking for a harddrive media player which has the feature
to add music to the playlist while playing a song (on the fly playlist).

On top of that it would be nice that the player supported ID3 tag (1 or 2).

Most of the reviews are focused on the video features of the players but don't review the music features or they just don't say if playlist feature is there.

Does anybody can give me some hints to get into the right direction ?

Thanks a lot !!!

You can create on the fly playlists using XBMC (on a modified original xbox). There's a video showing a sample interface that was just posted by TheOtherOne in the XBMC thread (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=635294).

Video (music interface shown about 2:20 into the video)

thanks for your reply!

Everywhere i look on the internet i see people saying xbmc is the best you can get.
I have an modded xbox at home so i'm going to try it .

But honestly i was looking for an harddisk media player (stand alone) so no xbox, because it's so damn noisy ... :(

Are there any players besides an htpc (pc) or game console which have the ability to create an on the fly playlist ?

Hi,

How about J. River Media Center (on a pc) coupled with a UPnP device? JRMC with a UPnP device for playback would allow you to add music to the "now playing" list on the fly, and the noisy pc could be remotely located while the nice, quiet UPnP device can reside in the listening area.

If it is your intention to save these playlists that should be doable as well. Because JRMC does save recently played lists in the playlist directory, you should be able to simply save the songs in the recently played directory as a new, permanent, playlist.
