I've recently been researching the Sony HDR-SR7 nd have found that it recently has undergone a price reduction at many stores. It also seems to be unusually scarce, being out of stock at Circuit City, Best Buy, PC Richards, and others...

Does anyone know what the deal is with this?
Is this model being phased out for the HDR-SR8?

I believe SR8 is only available through SonyStyle.com.. Not aware of any phasing out. Anyone else have a clue?

I find it very odd that it got the price reduction too. The SR8 is basically the same camera just with a bigger HDD so I don't know why the SR7 got that price reduction. Anyways, I copped one up at Crutchfield when the price got reduced and when mine arrived they had no more in stock. The SR7/8 are fairly new so I doubt any new HD cams are coming out in the next 4 months so I'm sure whats up with Sony.
