I think the Dwins only allow for 60Hz, which is one of the few drawbacks of a Dwin. At least, it definitely won't do 48Hz, and I'm assuming 72 is a no go.

Curt's website has it listed from 50-80Hz, which would be why 48Hz did not work. ( a shame really), but I wanted to see if anyone had any luck at 72Hz. I miss watching movies at a multiple of 24. :-)

About 2+ years ago I had my Dwin HD-700 going at 72 Hz for both 720p and if I recall correctly 1080i - 48 Hz wouldn't work - but I discussed this with Jim Petersen at Lumagen, who once had the same Dwin, he advised that the Dwin worked too hard at 72 Hz and that I'd be better off picturewise at 60 Hz, and I thought the picture was sharper when I went back to 60 Hz, where I've been ever since!!

have you tried 1080i at 72Hz ? since the projector would work less for 1080i than 720p. are you still enjoying the Lumagen ? I am thinking of picking one of those up in the next few months as well.

I had my previous Dwin working at 48. There is a set of pots on the main mother board on the floor pan of the projector that lock in the scan rate. When I had it working at 48 it would no longer o 60hz but it took 48 just fine. I have yet to setup my recently purchased 700 but I will attempt the same with this one.

Edit: I forgot to mention I was doing 720P 48:)

I have a Lumagen VisionHDP since a couple of weeks, and am very happy with it. It is an extremely capable machine, with a lot of features that will require time and patience to fully utilize. It was really needed to get a viewable picture with my Toshiba HD-E1 and my NEC PG6200.

For the Dwin, I guess you will be OK as long as you are not close to it's max horizontral scanrate whatever it is.

Alan, that is cool to know, I think I personally like 48Hz when it works well on a projector. I know an EPC I first started out with look WAY better at 48Hz. If you could, take lots of pictures of what you needed to do to get 48Hz to work, maybe you can get it to work ok for both, 48 & 60 this time. :-)

I am curious to know why did you get a CRT ? did you just get the itch really bad, I like did?

Thomas: Thanks for the positive review for the Lumagen, I am looking forward to getting mine as soon as I know it is safe to get it. ( I don't know if the contract I am on is ending soon.)

My Lumagen VisionPro HDP with dual SDI is on sale if anyone's interested, as with my upcoming Sim2 C3X 1080, etc upgrade I no longer need it. Anyone interested PM me.

Yes this Lumagen works fantastic with the Dwin.

Yes this Lumagen will do 72 Hz for 480p. 720p and 1080i without changing pots in the main board (HA - without going potty). But as I stated above, Jim Peterson of Lumagen advised that the projector works harder at this rate and the picture is actually softer and you're better off with good ol 60 Hz. And after Jim told me this, I went back to 60 Hz and - darn, the picture was sharper and better.!
