View Full Version : Can you delete some of your achievement points?
rdpiercy 10-09-07, 02:09 PM I was wondering because while playing skate. the game froze and after I restarted all but 2 achievements were unlocked giving me about 600 points I didn't earn.
This might sound cool to some folks but I want to earn them the right way. I mean what's the point if you can get them free, then your gamerscore doesn't mean as much.
If you delete your saved game will your achievements go to? Could I just start over?
Scott_lb 10-09-07, 02:11 PM I don't think you can. I'd like to delete the files I have on my achievement list which are set at zero (all of which are Arcade demos I tried out but didn't purchase). They are clogging up my list which I'd like to be cleaner.
Shizelbs 10-09-07, 02:12 PM I don't believe there is anyway to remove achievements.
Mike LS 10-09-07, 02:34 PM Nope.

That is so unusual. Did someone enter a cheat code without your knowledge?
Typically, folks bitch (I'm not saying you are bitching) about not getting an achievement because it is too hard or they never got the achievement because of a glitch.
Your achievements are linked to your gamertag. Even if you delete your game save, the achievement is with you forever. It's kinda like you're own DNA I guess...or taxes. :)

Create an extra gamertag on your system (Doesn't need to be Xbox Live). Then sign in as the new account and play.

Well yeah you can but you cant go on LIVE. I have 3 other profiles.
While not being able to delete achievements suck but keep in mind its also for good reason. If you could delete your achievements than those give aways for scoring x amount of achievement points would be exploited and everyone would be boosting like crazy plus MSFT had the vision to use achievements to earn rewards so yeah not going to happen and with good reason.

You sir can be on my friends list anytime.
As far as the achievements for this Gamertag go, you can't delete them. Once you have them you can't get rid of them.
Like ileff said you can make another gamertag and just play locally on your 360 til you get all those achievements you didn't really earn. The downside is you may have to play through the game on both gamertags but at least you will be able to respect yourself.
It is funny how you get the "why are you bitching" responses. I am sure those are the people who when they aren't charged for something at the store they never bother to say a word.
rdpiercy 10-10-07, 03:54 AM Thanks for responding guys,
I wasn't using cheats or anything the game just locked up on me. I went on the gamefaq forums and there were posts about the same thing happening to other people (in skate.).
Maybe there will be an update for this in the future, until then I guess I'll just have to work on equaling the achievements I already have.
Thrillhouse17 10-10-07, 10:28 AM No you can't. Why would you want to? Points mean EVERYTHING! Would you throw away a 100 dollar bill you found on the sidewalk? NO!
Enjoy what you've been given.

Agreed. I can see it now, a mad rush for 360 gamers to rent Skate in hopes of getting "600 free achievement points".

Yeah, that's one of my pet peeves also... Hopefully they'll give us a chance to delete 0 point games off our profiles...

Same here, I have tried on several occasions after ever update and can never do it.
Annoying
BOSS10L 10-11-07, 08:27 AM The only thing about mine is that I somehow got a 12 point achievement (Dig Dug was the game I think) and ever since then, my gamerscore always ends in a 2 or a 7. No big deal really, but it just irks me. Oh, to be able to give back those 2 points.... :D
McNugget 01-18-09, 07:30 PM forza motorsport 2 has 1 point achievements and a 4 point achievement. If you do them all, it comes out even but if you dont u can create some cool gamerscores like 666 or something or 6969

NXE brought the ability to delete games with 0 gamerscore. So, you CAN now do this!
First, press the Xbox 360 Guide button (the big glowing button in the middle of your controller). This will bring up the new guide. Scroll left to the Games blade and select Achievements. Press the "X" button to delete any game from the list with a Gamerscore of zero. You will be asked to confirm the action, and then you are done. Thankfully, this can only be done on games with a score of zero; otherwise, you could remove your ever-so-important achievement points.

Oh my gosh, you're right. Now I feel dumb for posting about deleting games with 0 gamerscore. Duh... they probably know that already :)
