Sort of a strange question...but when I stream music from my PC to my 360, the bass output is really weak. In fact, my sub doesn't even turn on, even though my receiver is showing that the 360 is outputting the sound on all 5.1 channels.
I've got my 360 connected via optical to a Yamaha receiver and a 5.1 system.
When I play games and movies, the bass output is fine. It's only when I stream music that the 360 seems to be outputting weak bass. Anyone else had this issue?
As far as I can tell, when I stream music through the 360 it only outputs through the L and R channels, none of the others. When I stream music through the airtunes, the receiver takes the stereo input and I can process it through, say, DTS Music or what have you to get it fed through all six speakers. There's a clear difference with the 360.
However, I have my receiver set to believe my front speakers are 'small,' so it on its own feeds the bass below whatever crossover I have set through the sub when I stream music through the 360.

Try connecting the 360 stereo output plugs to an unused port on the receiver. Switch to that port when streaming music. Should work.

I'll give that a shot and see if it works out.
Thanks for the help, guys!

Also you can go into your audio settings on the 360 and select "stereo". The bass will kick in then. I experienced the same thing you did and made that switch and the bass kicked in fine. This shouldn't be though. The 360 should be smart enough to throw the bass to the bass. lol
Of course you'll have to switch back when you want to play your games with the full 5.1 audio.

my bass is fine when i stream but it will only output on the left and right speakers plus the sub when you have it set to dolby digital, but it sounds better to me when you go into settings on your dash and set it to stereo, than I set my reciever to music and it sounds better because it uses all 5 speakers plus sub.
