I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this question or not, but...

I'm looking for a converter that will take an analog video input (composite, s-video, component) with unbalanced audio input, and output SDI-SD/HD (as appropriate) with embedded audio.

About the closest affordable match I can find is the AJA HD10AVA, which handles the audio fine but only features balanced XLR inputs. I'm trying to avoid creating more of a monster than necessary in the rack by avoiding another component like a CleanBox to convert from unbalanced to balanced audio.

The application is convert various consumer-grade components to SDI output without modifying the AV devices themselves.

I'd also be happy with a converter that accepted AES3 coax or optical digital audio input as well.

I don't know of any product that can take in 10db unbalanced audio. So to do it right, you will need a -10to+4 converter box. You can generally feed SPDIF into AES3 but it only works for 48K PCM. You can't send 5.1 AC3 into a AES input.

Here are some more vendors but non are cheap!

Also Sony proadcast / professional products group makes conversion cards.
