AaronSCH 10-12-07, 08:44 AM This has pretty much sealed the deal for me. I won't buy Sony catalog titles via Amazon any longer. Thankfully, I picked Dracula up at Fry's and now I can get "Replacement Killers" for free.
Adam_ME 10-12-07, 09:03 AM Also includes Underworld and Immortal Beloved. Purchase in increments of two is not necessary, they accepted my order for three disks for the list.
So I can buy just one title from the list? What would be the price? 10 bucks?
rppacis 10-12-07, 09:04 AM Wohoo, they have these BD's online for $9.99ea. Great deal.

5367538 Top Gun [HD]
5367218 Bram Stoker's Dracula [Blu-Ray]
5338158 A Few Good Men [Blu-Ray]

jkcheng122 10-12-07, 11:00 AM dammit, i have all the listed titles i'd want already.
House of the Flying Gaggers
The porn version on Blu-ray! Let's hope the master isn't a 3rd generation copy, post-CGI, flipped over from digital to analog then back, etc. etc...
the_yoyo 10-12-07, 12:08 PM good looking out
gonna try to pick up hellboy and underworld on my lunch break
also MI,sahara,top gun in HD
i love frys for being one of the first major B&M stores willing to put out major HD deals wish the others followed suit
So I can buy just one title from the list? What would be the price? 10 bucks?
Yup. I just went to the store over lunch, $9.99 each, as many as you want.
RobertR1 10-12-07, 12:22 PM Do they have a price match or anything? i bought Underworld a few weeks back and would like to use this deal to get another movie!
dfriday 10-12-07, 12:27 PM I miss out on a lot of the Fry's deals because there is not a Fry's around here. I am glad that this deal was online as well. I picked up Dracula, Underworld, Immortal Beloved and The Patriot. Thanks for the heads up.
MrXpress 10-12-07, 12:35 PM Wow, killer deal. I wish there were Frys around here, but all we get is CC and BB, slaves to the MSRP.
Picked up Fifth Element, Layer Cake, Kung Fu Hustle, and Top Gun.
briankmonkey 10-12-07, 12:37 PM Going to have to see what the rankings are for PQ and SQ on some of these.
Here is the newspaper link:

MrXpress 10-12-07, 01:00 PM How long does it usually take for the confirmation e-mail to arrive? I stupidly closed the tab when I was done submitting the order, and don't have an express account so there's really no way for me to tell if it has gone through or not, as I was expecting an immediate e-mail confirmation.
bought Blackhawk Down and Underworld. Thanks!!!:D
kowhite 10-12-07, 01:27 PM Not much on there I REALLY want...but hell, guess I'm getting FF and Underworld.
darkvisionsinc 10-12-07, 01:32 PM Thanks for the info, picked up
BS Dracula
Underworld
5th Element Remastered
Planet Earth.
The Fry's website is now in my Home Theater Favorites Folder
Great Deal
vladi123456 10-12-07, 01:36 PM Mods, please ban these types of threads in the future - or I'm gonna end up being homeless spending all money on blu-ray sales :D
jkcheng122 10-12-07, 01:56 PM hm, maybe i can pick up BHD at $10 just for the demo material that it is.
Chris Rein 10-12-07, 02:01 PM Sweet ass sweet!
I'm all for picking up some discs for cheap! Underworld, The Replacement Killers, A Few Good Men all mine!
Nice!!!
xradman 10-12-07, 02:04 PM With such frequent good sales on the Blu-ray side, I may curtail buying any catalog titles on release date even at $17.95 (with 10% Amazon discount). I think average cost for my last 30 or 40 Blu-ray catalog title has been ~$13 or 14 per disc.
jkcheng122 10-12-07, 02:05 PM underworld at $10 is a friggin steal. wild things at $10 is a nice price for obvious reasons too.
Thanks for the heads up, Xylon! Looks like I'll be picking up Dracula and A Few Good Men today. I was hoping that Robocop or Dawn of the Dead would be on sale, but what can you do?
underworld at $10 is a friggin steal.
Hell yeah it is.
Underworld
Kung Fu Hustle
Fifth Element
Layer Cake
I splurged and paid full price for 28 Weeks Later and The Descent.
Also picked up Top Gun on HD-DVD.
eghill1125 10-12-07, 02:49 PM These are great prices. I personally have never seen most of these movies though, so I am hesitant to purchase any.
It does make me wonder what Amazon is coming up with next, with this, JR, Future Shop, and Best Buy all having sales this weekend. I would think Amazon would be stepping up and trumping all of them. Don't know though.
I am waiting and hoping to get some kind of buy 2 get one free so I can pick up Remember The Titans, Halloween, and a third movie.:D
jkcheng122 10-12-07, 03:04 PM if we can get this deal to apply to Fox titles i could pick up f4-2 and DAT, c'mon Fox!
TrevorS 10-12-07, 03:45 PM dammit, i have all the listed titles i'd want already.
That's the problem with these sales, too many titles are already sitting on your shelf :(! If you restrict to titles you may actually watch more than once, there's not much left.
ajamils 10-12-07, 03:46 PM Mods, please ban these types of threads in the future - or I'm gonna end up being homeless spending all money on blu-ray sales :D
+1.... I won't go homeless because of lack of money but because my wife's gonna kick me out of the house for spending so much money on movies :o
lilstinky 10-12-07, 04:06 PM This has pretty much sealed the deal for me. I won't buy Sony catalog titles via Amazon any longer. Thankfully, I picked Dracula up at Fry's and now I can get "Replacement Killers" for free.
Hey Aaron! I just picked up Dracula(just what I was wishing for a few days ago;)), A Few Good Men, Underworld and bunch of those HD-DVDs which were on sale. I scored pretty big on the HD-DVD side because I was waiting for my brothers flight to come in at 9:20 this morning so I went to the Tempe store and they had marked Knocked Up as part of the HD-DVD deal so I got that at $13.50. I watched as they took the sign down so I don't think anybody else got in on the deal. Pays to get there early. I'm thinking about running up to the Thunderbird store and picking up The Replacement Killers. I don't really remember it so it would be like a blind buy. Everybody think its worth it?
Edit: I was hoping Black Book would be part of this!
Giant Robot 10-12-07, 04:15 PM went on a Bruce Willis/Gary Oldman haul today.
The 5th Element
Tears of the Sun
Dracula
Immortal Beloved
oh yea, each movie came up $9.99 each, so you don't have to buy 2 to get the price.
Filipinoyakuza 10-12-07, 04:18 PM Has anyone gone to a Fry's store and bought Planet Earth Blu-Ray for $49.99 or is that price online only?
xradman 10-12-07, 04:18 PM This has pretty much sealed the deal for me. I won't buy Sony catalog titles via Amazon any longer. Thankfully, I picked Dracula up at Fry's and now I can get "Replacement Killers" for free.
Same goes for me too. You can add Disney and Fox catalog titles to this as well since invariably Amazon or someone will run a 2 for 1 sale on those discs too (like BB running one on Disney now).
SuprSlow 10-12-07, 04:51 PM Did anyone else order Planet Earth BD and have it show up as DVD in the order confirmation? The item number matches the BD version on frys.com, so I guess I shouldn't worry :)
5165236 Planet Earth Colle /DVD 49.99
Brad1963 10-12-07, 04:59 PM I went at lunch to Fry's Burbank; picked up Bram Stoker's Dracula, The Replacement Killers and Memoirs of a Geisha. Great deal $10.00 each. Would have picked up Underworld also but bought it already. I'm going to stop buying Sony catalogs when they come out and wait for the what seems like monthly Fry's sales.
spicaly 10-12-07, 05:31 PM thanks for the heads up... wild things, 5th element, and resident evil on the way
Megalith 10-12-07, 06:00 PM Fry needs to set up a Prime membership, and fast.
Evan702 10-12-07, 06:04 PM I just came from Fry's. Picked up 6 titles. It would have been 7 if they offered Planet Earth in-store for $49.99. Sadly, they didn't. Anyway, it was interesting to see nearly 20 people in the Blu-ray section with most having at least 4 movies in hand. There was nary a soul looking at the hd-dvds. While I know not much can be drawn from a 5 minute slice of time, it was still amusing to see nonetheless.
Where does Fry's ship from? I'm in Texas & don't know which shipping method to go for?
Jacob305 10-12-07, 06:38 PM I had bought both dracula and fifth element very recently.. so I was able to take my receit and get two other movies. I picked up underworld and tears of the sun.
thanks for the heads up.
Jacob
skoolpsyk 10-12-07, 07:00 PM "House of the Flying Gaggers"
I'm sure this was a misspelling, or is this an adult title?
Neoguri 10-12-07, 07:47 PM Had to restrain myself and only picked up four(tears of the sun, wild things, a few good men, layer cake). i was seriously considering picking up almost all of them at about $11 a pop.
So I ended up getting Dracula, A Few Good Men, Untouchables (HD DVD) and 28 Weeks Later. I would have picked up Robocop as well, had it been in stock.
I don't know if it's only for this sale or not, but the BD section of my local Fry's is way bigger than it used to be. It's huge now and considerably larger than the HD DVD section.
Evan702 10-12-07, 08:27 PM Really, Steeb? I dunno. While I was pretty impressed with their Blu-ray section and agree that it's somewhat bigger than the hd dvd section, IMHO the hd dvd section was pretty nice sized too. I admit I could be wrong though.
Arpeggi 10-12-07, 08:31 PM Bought Dracula.
Fry's in Fountain Valley is out of Underworld.

When was the last time you went there? It didn't use to be nearly as big, so if it's been a while, that might explain it. Don't get me wrong - they've got a decent-sized HD DVD section, too (I think they have most - if not all - non-porn and non-import titles.) It's just not nearly as big as the BD section is now. It may be temporary - like just for the duration of the sale or something.
I don't know - I suppose it could just be me, but it sure seemed a lot bigger today than it ever has before.
cambrian 10-12-07, 09:05 PM Has anyone gone to a Fry's store and bought Planet Earth Blu-Ray for $49.99 or is that price online only?
Unfortunately, it's online only. I had both the blu-ray and hd-dvd version rang up as 79.99 in-store. :(
Picked up Bram Stoker's Dracula and Underworld this morning. I was going to pass on BSD after hearing about its issues, but at 9.99 it makes a good companion to the SB DVD.
deckerm 10-12-07, 09:53 PM Helping you guys out with attach rates by picking up 4 today. THat puts me to 7 BD with no player, but at these prices, i cant pass them up.
lol deckerm
I picked up two Blu-ray movies today. Fifth Element and A Few Good Men for $9.99 each. I hope Amazon has another buy two, get third free promotion before the holidays.
Thanks OP.
I picked up:
1- A few good men
2- Dracula
3- Final Fantasy
4- Underworld
Question: Is Final Fantasy worth it, even if it is only $10?. Also not too sure about Underworld. I already have Underworld Evolution, so I said, "what the heck", although I fell asleep during watching a rented Netflix copy!.
Everything else, I already have, or did not want.
cambrian 10-13-07, 03:38 AM Just saw Dracula. God, the video transfer sucks. It's no better than the superbit version upscaled via XA2. As much as I love this movie, this bluray version is really worth only $10.
SuprSlow 10-13-07, 09:22 AM Where does Fry's ship from? I'm in Texas & don't know which shipping method to go for?
My order just shipped from Ohio. I used second day shipping since it was only $5 more and we're getting these titles for cheap enough anyway :)
buster2 10-13-07, 10:17 AM ordered underworld, immortal beloved, hitch(something for the girlfriend to watch)and dracula as although i didnt like the transfer i did sell my superbit version last month so the $9 i got will pay for it.god i have sooooo many frickin blu rays on order.i need help

Same experience here in Austin. The HD-DVD and Bluray sections previously were the same size, next to each other, and small.
Now the Bluray section takes an entire aisle while the HD-DVD section has not changed.
42Plasmaman 10-13-07, 12:24 PM Went to Frys last night and they had plenty of all titles on sale in stock.
They even had a table setup near the entry of the DVD section with the sign of the Sale and most of the titles on sale displayed.
Also, it seems as long as you buy 2 of the titles on sale, all other titles that are on sale are $9.99.
I bought only 3 and they only charged me $9.99 each.

Nope - you don't have to buy two movies at all - they're just $9.99 each. I didn't even notice a sign in my store saying anything about a BOGO deal. Instead, they had sale tags on all of the movies in the deal - $9.99 each for the BD titles, $13.49 each for the HD DVD titles.

If you go to the site and see "sold out" (or "pre-order" for that matter) for any of these $9.99 Blu-rays, be aware that that does not necessarily mean you can't buy them now at this bargain price. It's just that delivery won't be right away. The below quote is extracted from what comes up at the Frys website when you click on "Sold Out". So, if you want the "sold-out" Blu-ray, go ahead and order it.
This product is on back order. ...................If you choose to order this product on the web, it will usually ship in 5 - 7 business days (Monday through Friday). Fry's ships on a first come, first service basis. Product availability is based on information supplied by the vendor and/or manufacturer and is subject to change if the vendor or manufacturer is unable to meet their estimated delivery dates.
Frys.com accepts credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. We will not bill your credit card until we ship your order. Partial orders are billed as each item is shipped however, all shipping and handling fees will be billed when first item ships.
Megalith 10-13-07, 01:23 PM You didn't include the deal-breaker:
We ship all available stock and do not hold orders until all products are in stock.
Doesn't this imply that you would get charged multiple shipping fees, assuming that none of the titles will be received and restocked simultaneously.

I was in the Fry's Austin store yesterday and I couldn't believe how big the Blu-ray section was. The manager working in that section told me they had just expanded the Blu-ray section and at this time they had no plans to expand the HD section. He implied that at this store BD outsells HD by a large margin (which isn't surprising considering the BD promotions they run).

Yeah, I'm thinking these frequent sales have been a pretty big factor in the decision to expand the BD section. I try to always take advantage of the promotions and usually get two to four titles at a time. I love these sales and it's one of the reasons that I have so many BD titles in my collection.
49er fan 10-13-07, 03:08 PM People that want to take advantage of these $10 BD movies better go to the stores since they are sold out of almost all the titles online. You could purchase them but would've have to wait until they restock their inventory. Thank you Fry's for having such a great selection and great prices!
49er fan 10-13-07, 03:10 PM BTW Me & my friend went out yesterday and I got 6 Blu-Ray movies and my friend got 11 Blu-Rays. I pushed him to buy those Blu-Rays and told him the price was a good deal. Before this he only had one BD and that was Smallville season 6 but now has another 11 movies to his Blu-Ray collection.
whippersnapper 10-13-07, 05:19 PM You didn't include the deal-breaker:
Doesn't this imply that you would get charged multiple shipping fees, assuming that none of the titles will be received and restocked simultaneously.Of course not, where would you ever get such an idea? Find someplace on the Frys site where it says that. Once I'm charged a shipping amount for an order and it takes multiple shipments to fulfill that order, I've never been charged extra. And that goes for Frys, Amazon and Warners. For more details, go to Post #73 upthread, click on the link and navigate within the site if you wish.
catmonv 10-13-07, 09:33 PM whoa, i just went to Fry's and got 7 movies. I bought today's tribune with the ad, another Frys on sale BOGO for 10-14 to 10-16. It does not say the price but here are the ff. titles per ad (and says plus 20 more titles, probably the titles that include the bogo that started friday 10-12:
pearl harbor
poc 1
poc 2
the prestige
apocalypto
wild hogs
shadowrage 10-14-07, 02:07 AM Why aren't Ultraviolet and Silent Hill ever on sale? I would totally buy those but there's no way I'm paying full price for those. Everything else sony has is around $20. Then 3 weeks later they're $10.
These two have been at around $25 for a year. WTF??
are they FOX titles labeled Sony?
Megalith 10-14-07, 02:10 AM The Silent Hill transfer is apparently unremarkable, so there's no way I would bother with it anyway.
But you can score Ultraviolet and Silent Hill $30 with CC's B1G1 deal today.

Seriously?? awesome.
I really like the siren sound in Silent Hill.
And Ultraviolet is really shiny.
So I think $10 each is reasonable, $15 might be workable.
Unfortunately, it's online only. I had both the blu-ray and hd-dvd version rang up as 79.99 in-store. :(
The BD version of PE rang up at $64.99 at the Manhattan Beach Fry's today. I bought it, as that is still one of the best prices I've seen anywhere for this title, but when I got home and saw that it was still available at Frys.com for $49.99, I ordered it online and will be returning the B&M copy I purchased.
jeepbrew 10-14-07, 11:47 AM Where does Fry's ship from? I'm in Texas & don't know which shipping method to go for?

Would take two days to get to you if it ships from ATL.

why are people getting so involved with "beating" HD DVD's transformers sales??? who really gives a rats rear ??? they're movies for gods sake. This is a nice sale for Blu Ray fans to grab some good titles, but this isn't something that's going to affect how much money you make or how happy you are in life.
catmonv 10-14-07, 02:00 PM I just bought 9 of the $9.99 last friday. I went there today again as a result of the sunday Ad. I bought 10 for $13.50 each.

And my family, friends and I will be enjoying these movies after we get them. And if, while saving money buying quality products, I can also promote our format of choice --- it's even better.

i didnt buy the movies in an effort to help beat out HD sales. I bought them because when sales like these go on i make an effort to expand my library as much as i can. $10 each for blu-ray movies are a steal.
hamsterxcore 10-15-07, 01:48 AM I'm trying so hard to get into this $9.99 sale, but everything I want is backordered. I'm trying to order the backordered stuff and every time I click the submit order button I get no response whatsoever. I'd love to be able to stroll into a Fry's but the nearest one is four hours away. Anyone manage to place a backordered order recently during this sale?
Edit: Nevermind, I just need to quit using Opera to browse the internet. Refilled my cart in Mozilla and the order went through fine. Dracula, The Patriot, Donnie Brasco, and Underworld for $11.60 each is a deal I won't mind waiting for them to restock their warehouses for.

42Plasmaman 10-15-07, 10:27 AM NOTE
Not sure if anyone noticed but on Sunday, Frys was having the Disney movies for BOG1 free as well to match Best Buy's sale of the Disney titles.
Best Buy also had the the Sony movies for $14.99 to try and compete with the Fry's BOG1 free sale. Best Buy also had more titles than listed in their ad on sale.
It's like Win win no matter where you go this week for BD movies but Frys definitely has the best/lowest prices and both Frys/Best Buy had plenty of stock of all titles on sale.
Target also had the Disney titles on sale.

For the Sony stuff Fry's is the place but on most of the Disney/Buena Vista stuff Amazon has the best pricing.

Absolutely incredible! I placed two orders Saturday and recieved both via DHL Monday -- amazing!
Mine shipped on Sat. but the tracking hasn't updated at all. Anyone else experiencing this?
LpChaos 10-15-07, 08:02 PM Ordered 4 titles (Wild Things, Final Fantasy, Layer Cake and Tears of the Sun) on Friday morning, chose regular shipping and they arrived this morning. Excellent!
Marc Alexander 10-15-07, 09:44 PM I just caught wind of these deals. Of course, my local Fry's was just about cleaned out on every title (although they were offering rain checks). I simply went online and ordered (Planet Earth was $64 in store and only $49 online).
A quick note if anyone tries to add Fifth Element online and it won't let you (sold out). I simply placed my order normally and then called the toll free number and had the guy manually add Fifth Element for me. The rep said currently there are over 250 backorders for fifth element @ $9.99 in their online system.
My pickup list:
Planet Earth
Underworld
Hellboy
Fifth Element
Curse of the Golden Flower
Black Hawk Down
Donnie Brasco
Dinosaur
VeeArSix 10-16-07, 08:18 AM wow, i ordered on Friday afternoon and my order arrived yesterday afternoon and i'm in VA. thumbs up for Fry's.
