So I just moved into a house with friends, which is great, but now that I live in a big place, we must make use of the wireless router (I miss my wires in the apartment). The 360 can connect via ethernet wire in the living room because that's where we have the router set up. However, I want to play in my bedroom, which we can not have wired. I have been pouring a lot of money into the new home and car lately and am trying to avoid spending $100 on the wireless adapter. What I have tried doing is connecting the 360 to the PC (wireless capable) and getting the internet that way. So far it hasn't worked, which is aggravating because I used to do this with the xbox back in college and it worked great. I have tried both crossover and patch cables, and I know that doesn't make a difference now. I can stream my media, but can not connect to the internet. I figure this is because the PC is not directly connected to the modem. What I'm trying to accomplish is: Cable modem -> d-link draft n wireless router -> desktop via d-link draft n wireless pci card -> xbox via wired ethernet port. Is this possible? Is there a way to get a valid IP this way? Or, is it even worth it? I figure the connection will be good if I can pull this off because the draft n is incredibly fast and always has a great signal. If anyone can help, please let me know.
Thanks. -gs

Yes, you can do this.
You need to bridge the connections on your computer in your "network connections"
check out this link:

Nice, thanks, BUT I think I found out where I am going wrong. My friend's computer is the one that was used to set up the router and he is the administrator. So basically I need to figure our how to avoid this: "You must be logged on as an administrator or a member of the Administrators group in order to complete this procedure. If your computer is connected to a network, network policy settings may also prevent you from completing this procedure."
I'm going to look into this later. I'm guessing I can just use my friend's password to get into the router settings and mess around there until I get the right setting?

I don't know about connecting to the pc but other cheaper alternatives are to get this router for $30 and use it in bridged mode:

Also, you can pick up the MS wireless adapter for $70 used. I wish I had gotten the router before the adapter, I would have saved almost enough to buy another game.

Funny thing- I tried bridging the connections again and this time it worked without a problem. I don't know why this was different from last time, but oh well, I have xbox live again! Thanks
