Mr.Inzane 10-12-07, 02:45 PM Great news! this movie is good for showing off that HT system. Hope it comes with PCM.:p Damnationdoormat 10-12-07, 02:53 PM So Pan's Labyrinth is coming to both formats in December from New Line, but this New Line film is BD exclusive in January. That doesn't make sense. theone2 10-12-07, 02:54 PM Exclusive for 2-3 months. Macroblocker 10-12-07, 02:57 PM Goes back to that region-coding crap. sixfootse7en 10-12-07, 02:59 PM So Pan's Labyrinth is coming to both formats in December from New Line, but this New Line film is BD exclusive in January. That doesn't make sense. This will occur with any new release due to region coding. Only the catalog titles will be out at the same time on BD and HD. jkcheng122 10-12-07, 03:05 PM hehe, 2 box office bombs coming 1/1/2008, the other one being War, i'm likely picking up both. tqlla 10-12-07, 03:47 PM I know was WAR even in the theaters for more than 3 days? I will definately pick it up, since I missed it in theaters sodrock 10-12-07, 03:50 PM So Pan's Labyrinth is coming to both formats in December from New Line, but this New Line film is BD exclusive in January. That doesn't make sense. Same with Hairspray this December. bunkaroo 10-12-07, 03:54 PM I liked Shoot 'Em Up at the theater and will definitely get the BD. It should be a great disc. jkcheng122 10-12-07, 05:47 PM I liked Shoot 'Em Up at the theater and will definitely get the BD. It should be a great disc. i can't see how with clive own blazing 2 guns shooting up everything in sight plus monica belluci this movie can bomb as bad as it did. nyg 10-12-07, 05:53 PM I had to check IMDb just to remind myself of what the heck this movie was. Looks like a rental for me. BerserkerTails 10-12-07, 06:13 PM Actually quite an enjoyable movie, though completely mindless. I'd watch it a couple more times, so it's a sale for me. TrueHD 10-12-07, 07:06 PM I had to check IMDb just to remind myself of what the heck this movie was. Looks like a rental for me. ?? The movie title is almost as self-explanotory as Snakes on a Plane. Megadeth09 10-12-07, 07:13 PM This was the most enjoyable movie I have seen in the movies in quite some time. Not only was it full of action throughout, it had great humor also. Evan702 10-12-07, 07:21 PM I knew this movie wouldn't do well at the box office. I also knew that I'd be adding it to my collection whenever it came out. So New Year's Day it is. Ebanks 10-12-07, 07:44 PM I will definitely pick up Shoot Em Up as I thought it was very entertaining (for those of us who are able to turn off there brain for a couple hours). When you guys mention the movie "War" coming out the same day are you talking about the Kevin Costner/Elijah Wood "War"? I LOVED that movie and it will be a must buy for me if it comes out that same day as well! theone2 10-12-07, 08:00 PM When you guys mention the movie "War" coming out the same day are you talking about the Kevin Costner/Elijah Wood "War"? I loved this flick. Very violent. And that one line after the sex scene is a classic. I just dont like that it was film with HD video. Detail on his leather jacket is insane though(saw it on a DLP). All the rock and roll music and gunshots are going to sound awesome. Not to mention the carrot. AaronSCH 10-12-07, 11:51 PM Here's a history lesson for everyone who equates a great film with its box office performance. Some films are not initially appreciated by the public but go on to become classics while many box office heavyweights are forgotten. The Wizard of Oz premiered at the Strand Theatre in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin on August 12, 1939 and Grauman's Chinese Theater in Hollywood on August 15, 1939. The New York City premiere at Loew's Capitol Theater on August 17, 1939 was followed by a live performance with Judy Garland and her frequent film co-star Mickey Rooney. They would continue to perform there after each screening for a week. The movie opened nationally on August 25, 1939. The film grossed approximately $3 million against production/distribution costs of $3.8 million in its initial release. It did not show a profit until a 1949 re-release earned an additional $1.5 million. I haven't seen Shoot 'Em Up and I'm not saying it will go on to be a classic. But using box office as a measure of a film's worth isn't necessarily correlated. In my opinion, Crank is absolute trash compared to this movie. Benkrishman 10-13-07, 01:08 AM Here's a history lesson for everyone who equates a great film with its box office performance. The Big Lebowski is a great example of this. Fantastic movie, but did very poorly in the box office. nyg 10-13-07, 10:39 AM ?? The movie title is almost as self-explanotory as Snakes on a Plane. Well yeah it's easy to know what it's about but the title doesn't tell you who the actors are! tauheel05 10-15-07, 02:43 PM http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb272/TauHeel05/shootemup.jpg "Shoot 'Em Up" on Blu-ray, 1/1/08. Includes DTS-MA 7.1 and PiP. http://www.dvdactive.com/news/releases/shoot-em-up.html Scott Simonian 10-15-07, 02:50 PM I think I like the silhouette of him with the SMG's better but I would pick this up in a heartbeat! Dunno why it did so poorly. It was just as it was advertised. An over the top, action romp. It was fantastic! Great performances from everyone, especially Giamatti. Now I just need a Blu-ray player. :D NickFoley 10-15-07, 02:57 PM 7.1 nice. dpags 10-15-07, 04:04 PM Same with Hairspray this December. And Rush Hour 3 cdhender 12-23-07, 02:30 PM I picked this up today at my local Best Buy (Chicago, Clark St). I'll watch it tonight and post impressions. Really looking forward to hearing the DTS 7.1 :D shadowrage 12-23-07, 02:41 PM I picked this up today at my local Best Buy (Chicago, Clark St). I'll watch it tonight and post impressions. Really looking forward to hearing the DTS 7.1 :D Nice. This one should sound good. How gross do the nose hairs on Giamati look on the BD?:( I think this is another 1.1 title. Most of the film is pretty cartoony so I wonder how good the gunshots sound. This movie has one of the greatest sex scenes ever. That line at the end is classic. Crimson King 12-23-07, 02:55 PM No, it's not a 1.1 title from what I understand. Eluder 12-23-07, 08:22 PM Horrible movie... I was excited about it until I watched it, realized it had a terrible plot. smitchell24 12-23-07, 08:25 PM Hopefully Netflix will get the Blu Ray version soon! Filler 12-23-07, 09:51 PM Horrible movie... I was excited about it until I watched it, realized it had a terrible plot. Shoot'em Up had a plot? shadowrage 12-24-07, 12:37 AM Shoot'em Up had a plot? Finally someone understands the movie. Clive Owen saves a baby again while he plays Bugs Bunny with guns. Everything is so over the top that it's hilarious. I mean the guy manages to fire like 4 rounds of ammuntion without using a gun(This actually happens in the movie). Then there's the birthing scene, the car chase, the sky diving, the carousel thing, and the sex scene. It's ment to be a cartoon. This is one of the few pieces of mindless cinema I like. You know to turn your brain off from the opening scene, best use of a carrot ever. That being said I wouldnt pay $30 for it. Anything less is acceptable. Just make sure you realize the movie is outrageous on purpose. Deviation 12-24-07, 12:54 AM Finally someone understands the movie. Clive Owen saves a baby again while he plays Bugs Bunny with guns. Eluder 12-24-07, 10:14 AM To me it was trying to rip off Crank, with it's over the top style, but did a horrible job of doing so. I enjoyed Crank far better. qz3fwd 12-26-07, 08:42 PM I picked this up today at Meijers of all places. GamerGuyX 12-26-07, 08:45 PM I picked this up today at Meijers of all places. lol. Thats where I got Rush hour 3. qz3fwd 12-26-07, 10:50 PM Yeah-they also had RH3. I have noticed that Meijers seems to be getting newer titles in stock, wheras over the summer/fall it was always the same old movies on the shelf. homerx 12-27-07, 01:41 PM I really enjoyed this film as well it did what it was ment to be way way over the top.. Its just how it is. So eat your carrots Piwi 12-28-07, 08:17 AM Is Code "A" already confirmed? :( k1davis 12-28-07, 02:18 PM I went looking for it last night but no luck. It looks like I'll have to wait a few days. The movie is a really good time. Completely ridiculous in a good way. The DVD got 4.5 stars for both PQ and AQ (http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=31818), so this BD ought to be awesome. Does anybody have any comments on how the BD looks/sounds? musicfann 10-31-08, 06:39 PM The blu ray is awesome, and I was so caught up "in" the film, as it was progressing, I could only pay attention to what was going on. Great aural and visual experience. Sensational film, doing what "good" movies do best...capturing your interest to the point, which you are completely surrendering to what is being presented in front of you. Before you know it, it's over, and too soon. mhafner 11-01-08, 11:07 AM Does anybody have any comments on how the BD looks/sounds? Looks reference. |
