The DVD versions have Italian-only.

Hopefully we will see the others in the No Name series in addition to this one. For me this would be a must have import given this has an english option. Here's to hoping Xploited picks this up

every release in every country is a dub because no audio is recorded, the original Italian release of that film has Italian voice actors dubbing over Eastwood Wallach etc., the US release had them doing their own dub and english voice actors doing Italian roles

when making these films everyone spoke their native language and dubs were made for every release country

Exactly, English is the original (or "preferred") track if you want to hear the English-speaking actors. Many European productions of that era were shot without sound to save money and because often you could have multiple actors on screen that spoke completely different languages doing scenes together.

The thing is that during filming the European actors weren't given dialogue, they were just counting. I know this is true for GBU but have no idea about the prequels.

Tony just emailed me back, and said as long as they have english options, he'll carry them. They come out in December, and he'll know for sure around the middle of November.

The Italian language probably sound better, but in the context of the movie and what the make the location out to be....isn't an English dub PREFERABLE? Example, an Italian film like Gatto Nero (Fulci) taking place in England. It'd be a tad unrealistic to have all the people in England speaking Italian.

These are films based on the Old West. I'm pretty sure they were intended for English as the preferred language.

I watched the Good the bad and the ugly yesterday and according to the special features that movie was shot in itallian then dub to englsih, as a matter fact they had 15 minutes of extra features that were not included in the theater release version and it was in itallian.

I forget the web site that I saw this at, but I believe both movies were released on HD-DVD with ONLY the Italian sound track.

The HD DVD of "My Name is Nobody" was not available last Tony checked at Xploited.

But he could get the BD version of it.

Now Tony is told that the HD DVD of "My Name is Nobody" has a release date of April 23.


With all of the uproar going on, I guess we'll see if that comes to fruition.

Confusingly, the website linked above says "PAL" and "Region 2" and AFAIK there's no such thing w/HD DVD???

Duh, would not want it in "original Italian" as that would mean Eastwood and Van Cleef would not be speaking for themselves. I'd of course want the English track w/the principals' original voices and the Italians are dubbed in English. Haven't seen For a Few Dollars More in a LONG time but IIRC the dubbing was quite good.

In my link provided above, I just put the english dvd copy in the A1 and let it play the audio, while the BD churns along in the PS3 for video.

I've done this many times, and sometimes its the A1 for video, and the PS3 for audio.

This way I can enjoy titles now!;)

My choices would be to watch the movie in Italian, which I'll have to pass on, there are no English subtitles, and yes I knew this.... so what to do? I have one of the dvd versions in English, so lets make it work.

I just select the exact same frame from the beginning of the film, and as long as you have the SAME version of the film, it is fine. Hit play on both players, and watch the film.

Sometimes I've had to pause briefly one or the other, as the commands from the remotes to starting the players can be off slightly.

Clearly this is not the best solution, convenient it is not, and I don't do this very often, but it is a workaround that works for me.

Other times this technique works when I've had a horrible recording of an HD movie where the sound was so far off (3-4) seconds, it was unwatchable.
The video looked great, so I find a dvd version of the film and use the audio from the dvd version, and match audio and video up, and off you go.

Worth it for most people?..... probably not, but part of the fun of our hobby for me.

Not really, it wasn't uncommon to have a group of actors (especially minor roles/extras) each from a different country that only spoke their native tongues on screen together in conversation. Sometimes actors were instructed to say things like numbers instead of the actual script because of their lines not being transcribed into their language. Usually only the principal actors had a real sense of the script.
