I'm thinking of getting home theater seating with a projector table in between two of the seats and projecting up to the screen rather than the current configuration whereby the pj is hanging from the ceiling.

Does anyone have an idea as to what/where to purchase something like this? Also, will the fans being closer be a bother and will the light projected from the lens be visible and annoying?

Why do you want to move your projector from its ceiling placement?

Well, I have a Da-Lite High Power screen which works best with a table mounted projector. Since a reduced angle from the lens to screen back to the eyes makes the images brighter with this type of screen, I'd like to try table mounting. The viewing angle is greater when the pj is ceiling mounted and thus the brightness level is not as great.

I'm wondering if I'll see the light from the lens with the projector beside me and if it'll bother me. When it's ceiling mounted you only see the light when you look up and back at the projector, at least this is what I've found.

I've searched online and can't find any table mounts that would sit between the theater chairs. I'm wondering if the tables in photos I've seen have been home made.

Keep one thing in mind: Where your projector's exhaust flow will go.

I have a JVC RS-1 and its exhaust comes out the front and blows the hot air at a about a 45deg angle towards the side.

Depending on where the projector sits on a table between chairs, you could get into the situation of having hot air blown towards one of the seat occupants.

I have a cheap wood laminate side table that I spray painted a dark green to match the theater chairs in my home theater; a Sony LCD projector rests inside. I put a metal cold air return vent in the back of the box to take care of the exhaust, but since the slats point upward, there's really no problem with hot air disturbing guests. I too have a high power screen from da-lite and, with a low basement ceiling, had no choice but to mount the projector inside a cabinet.

Is the box right beside you between your chairs or is it in front of your seating position?

Do you notice the light shooting out from the lens and any floating dust particles? When I look up and back at my pj lens I can see this when the image being sent to the screen is a bright one. Since the pj is mounted above and behind our couch, we don't notice the light and dust (not that our place is any dustier than any other ;)) unless we deliberately take our eyes off of the screen and look at the projector.

I'm just concerned that if the pj is table mounted we might notice this light and dancing dust a little more or is it a non issue?
