View Full Version : Transformers 5/5 - Will Steven Spielberg change his opinion now ? lgans316 10-14-07, 02:21 AM With Transformers HD DVD scoring a perfect 5/5 do you think Spielberg will change his opinion of HD DVD and allow HD DVD exclusive studios to release his movies in HD ?;) MichaelHDDVD 10-14-07, 02:24 AM Spielberg never came out against HD DVD fitprod 10-14-07, 02:26 AM It's not the quality... It's the quantity. fitprod Helvetian 10-14-07, 02:35 AM http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/102/24580701yx3.jpg Paramount is working a deal out with Spielberg and Geffen now regarding DreamWorks. Spielberg and Geffen have been unhappy with Paramount because they do not give due credit to DW for such blockbuster as Blades of Glory and Spielberg produced Transformers as they want. Part of the deal includes a new banner, Paramount-DreamWorks much like the whole Disney/Pixar thing. And all movies, starting with The Heartbreak Kid will feature strong brand positioning for DreamWorks SKG, Spielberg is happy with the changes. Paramount is discussing contract terms with the two DreamWorks founders now. When Spiel/Gef are locked in, Katz is already locked in until 2013; we can expect his catalog of films to hit HD DVD exclusively in 2008 and beyond. Just a matter of time. sharkcohen 10-14-07, 03:26 AM I'm sure Spielberg isn't going to care what two-bit online review sites say about the picture quality of Transformers. lockheede 10-14-07, 03:42 AM Who's reviews would he by happy with? fitprod 10-14-07, 04:00 AM Helvetian, What's your source? fitprod sharkcohen 10-14-07, 04:08 AM Who's reviews would he by happy with? Uh, probably his own opinion. lockheede 10-14-07, 04:32 AM You mean if he actually watches it...but forgoing that, whose word would be good enough for him to at least reconsider his apparent disdain for HD? PFC5 10-14-07, 05:36 AM You mean if he actually watches it...but forgoing that, whose word would be good enough for him to at least reconsider his apparent disdain for HD? I have NEVER read ANYWHERE that Spielberg had ANY disdain towards HD DVD. It seems people are reading to much into his spokesperson saying he is a fan of BD when asked what he thought of BD. :p Michael Mullis 10-14-07, 10:38 AM Well, I think what will be telling for Spielberg is how Transformers is going to VASTLY outsell Close Encounters. And it may move hardware in a way CE won't. So perhaps Steven may take a look at that and realize that HD DVD is just as viable a platform for his movie releases as Blu-ray. Then the waters get tested with Jurassic Park. :) nyg 10-14-07, 10:39 AM http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/102/24580701yx3.jpg Paramount is working a deal out with Spielberg and Geffen now regarding DreamWorks.
