In terms film value, PQ/SQ and re-watch factor I would like to know which title is a better buy ? Please advice.

I would get both. ;) If you can only get one today then get the newer Troy D.C. because Patriot is more of a 4th of July movie. And of course the new Troy shows more (much more) of the beautiful Helen. If you know what I mean!

Ill disgaree with the first reply.... The Patriot EC is the right flick. Troy on the other hand is a better film when viewing the Theatrical cut. Alls they added in the Troy Extended cut is a few more (gratuitous)blood spatters and some rudimentary character scenes that dont really add squat to an already pretty long movie.

So, I vote Patriot as the better of the two films and worth rewatching. Troy is worth buying, but ONLY the theatrical cut which can only be had on HD DVD right now.

My 2 cents....

Troy DC is like a freaking Itchy and Scratchy cartoon. Blood just sprays out. It's too much and becomes comical.

I say patriot. It's $9.99, you cant go wrong.

Yep, the new Troy B-level horror movie violence is actually funny and ruins the movie. All those Troy DC blind buyers are gonna be dumping on e-bay soon....;)

Troy DC. It's like the original Troy(Yaaawn) mixed with 300. Fun flick.
If you can stomach Mel Gibson in 1080p then you sir have an iron gut.

Patriot on all counts. For example, the PQ on Patriot is excellent; the PQ on Troy is mediocre.

I own both. The Patriot is a solid flick with excellent PQ and good replay value. Troy: DC is one of those fun flicks to throw in as "background" when I'm surfing the net in my den. There's enough going on that I really never get bored with it.

the patriot is awesome and troy is good too. Buy both and be happy. Too bad gladiator isn't on BD cause that would be an easy choice to pick up as well.

Id say Patriot just based on the fact that before you know it (crossing my fingers for Black Friday), Troy will have a decent price drop. Cant go wrong with either movie

Where the heck can you find The Patriot on Blu-ray for ten bucks?!

Edit: Nevermind, I found the Fry's thing. They don't exist around here and their online store is out of stock, unfortunately.

Get Troy, I just watched it and PQ is awesome. Sound was great too, just not "all that". I give PQ 9/10 and sound 8/10. Movie was good, this was the first time I saw it and enjoyed it. I am one that likes all the blood stuff, so those were bonus points for me.

Wasnt all that thrilled with Patriots PQ. Interior scenes are gorgeous, the daylight scenes are mix and match, and the nighttime scenes looked like crap to me.

I thought The Patriot was a better film and looks very good. I own both, but Troy DC is more of a cheesy popcorn flick like 300 (although not nearly as entertaining) while the Patriot is more in the lines all those well done epic battle films like Braveheart, Kingdom of Heaven and Gladiator.

Both have their place, but if I had to choose it wouldn't be a very hard choice for me.

I've only seen The Patriot (on BD too) and I'd have to go with my gut and say that's the better movie. If you order out of stock items from Fry's online, they'll ship them as they're in stock. Ordered Patriot, FF Spirits Within, and *shhhh* Top Gun HD.

I would definitely go with The Patriot. It looks incredible in high definition and it is worthy of repeat viewings. The theatrical version of Troy is a yawner. Nothing could make it worse. So I may eventually get around to buying the directors cut just to satisfy my curiosity.

I'd go with the Patriot if you only want one. It's just an all around great movie. the BD disc also has an awesome PCM track and top tier quality.

Just watched Troy (DC) and thought it looked and sounded great. PCM 5.1 is sweet!!!!!!!!!!

Wait, so your gut knows it's better than a movie you haven't seen?

Can your gut tell me where I left my red sock?

As for the OP, get the one you can get cheaper now. Buy the other one later.

Brad Pitt vs Mel Gibson....Helen of Troy vs Battle for Independence....Apples vs Oranges, really. Both got good reviews based on the material.

Patriot without a question. Excellent PQ and great AQ.

The Troy DC is decent, but definitely behind Patriot in story, PQ, and AQ.

Patriot hands down as a movie.
As for AQ and PQ, they both look good.

I'm betting the OP has already made his decision at this point.

Now what is the use in comparing two totally different movies?

In b4 the lock!

I personally dislike buying DVDS/HD DVD/BLU-RAY in Japan coz of the ridiculous pricing.
$35-$40 for HULK / TOKYO DRIFT / HELLBOY / PATRIOT [WTF?]. I don't want the store keepers to bow for me. I don't expect respect from these Japanese. All I want is god damn movies at reasonable prices. Few titles I bought are

1) Face/Off
2) Con Air
3) Air Force One

just because of the very fact that they aren't released in the U.S and they are one among my favorite movies of all time.

I have both of these titles and I only own 10 BDs! There is lots of replay value for me in both to justify my purchase. The PQ and AQ was secondary and I don't have any issue with either for that.

Patriot is on sale for $14.99 and I took advantage of that. I bought Troy on release day and paid more but it is something I really wanted. I didn't do that with Patriot though.
