sbarrier 10-14-07, 01:39 PM Sounds like you've "trained" her well. :p
thebland 10-14-07, 01:41 PM Knocked Up? Maybe she is trying to hint at something she wants.......:D
Michael Mullis 10-14-07, 01:54 PM Nono. We have one already. Can't afford #2 yet. Especially if I want to keep this HD DVD habit up. :)

Nice.:)
Mine hasn't brought home an HD or BD disc yet, but she calls if she runs across a movie she thinks we'll like and it's in various formats. She always gets the big "I love you so much" or "damn you're cool" from me.:D
yellowcanary73 10-14-07, 02:27 PM I think mines pretty cool after 2 50in Panasonic plasmas and a XA2 and Panasonic BD player in less then 6 months.
wormraper 10-14-07, 02:31 PM I got lucky too. I have a wife who knows my players, appreciates the diff between SD and HD and only buys BD/HD DVD when she can for me. I told her not to get me the Pirates 3 DVD for Xmas this year and she looked at me and said
"Did you really think I would you anything but Hi Def???" :D, I love here :D
Knocked Up? Maybe she is trying to hint at something she wants.......:D
Or maybe it's her not so subtle way of telling you what she's already got!!
BerserkerTails 10-14-07, 02:56 PM My girlfriend is amazing too. For my birthday she bought me HD DVDs of Hustle and Flow and Black Snake Moan, which I both loved. She also buys almost nothing but HDM now, and is super excited about buying Transformers next week.
...Not to mention she bought me the HD DVD add-on for the 360 last Christmas. I'm hanging on to her for sure!

luclin999 10-14-07, 03:28 PM My wife's answer to me after I got the A1 a couple weeks ago was..
"Lets go buy Planet Earth, I heard it looks great on HD."
and when we got the the store..
"Is Battlestar Galactica out on HD yet? You can make that my Christmas present."
Yep, she's a keeper. ;)

leem6453 10-14-07, 04:56 PM You know what else is nice...she buys you an A2 for your birthday...and then 2 months later while looking on Ebay she says, "I found a Philips Blu-ray player for $350...I think we should jump on it."
Now that's an awesome wife.
shakmal 10-14-07, 04:59 PM Really great..Michael..I'm going to bookmark this thread as the main homepage of my IE...so my wife will c it herself whenever she log in to the internet....and hope she will stop complaining about my HD-DVD collection...but I still luv her too....
Oddly enough my wife rocks as well when it comes to HD.:D
We watched the SD DVD of Lethal Weapon 4 a couple weeks ago and I commented how HD DVD and BD have spoiled me visual wise. She came back with "Yeah, and the sound is terrible compared to HD DVD."
I was in utter shock and amazement. Who would have thought my wife would become an audiophile?:o
You guys must have "Stepford Wives". I missed out on that model.
Ergoguy34 10-14-07, 06:15 PM Too funny, my wife did the exact same thing, exact, but little did she know we had knocked up a bit early from an internet source..
meatball_84 10-14-07, 06:42 PM you guys are lucky, my recent ex was just a whore and thats about it

tdavis21484 10-14-07, 08:44 PM My wife is very good to me - I plan on buying the HD DVD of "Stardust" as a secret Christmas gift for her, as thanks for putting up with my HD buying habit.
SCHNEEDOO 10-14-07, 08:47 PM When she can bake from scratch and drywall and paint like a pro.

Getting the wife the Harry Potter boxset for Christmas. Ill never watch them but for some weird reason she likes them. Also going to finish off the Pirates trilogy for her as well, she got the first two for her birthday in Sept.
lgans316 10-14-07, 09:46 PM Sounds like your wife has "KNOCKED" you "UP" !!!
I get in trouble for buying SD titles that are available in HD. Just got lamented for buying the SD League of Extrodinary Gentlemen,
I remember when I first met my Wife she would get widescreen copies because full screen were bad... Of course then she swallowed to... :D
vancouver 10-14-07, 10:36 PM even thou we own and enjoy both formats my wife always refers to Blue Ray as "the dark side".
eapleitez 10-14-07, 10:37 PM I remember when I first met my Wife she would get widescreen copies because full screen were bad... Of course then she swallowed to... :D
Aww dude, we did NOT need to know that!

get her the pirates movie referred to in the HD-DVD adult thread and say you misunderstood what she wanted... but you may as well watch it anyway
CDJayRFU 10-15-07, 09:12 AM Not got the soon-to-be-wife fully HD trained up ( yet ;) ) but she gets big brownie points for agreeing for the living room to be accoustically treated ( IE bass traps in all corners and treatments all over the walls )
Don't think the W.A.F enters into it, which is good ;)
The room looks like stonehenge already w/ four floorstanders, four subwoofers etc
She would, however, definitely know not to buy me an SD-DVD.
CDJay
JonProphet 10-15-07, 12:03 PM No no no...... you know you have a well trained wife when she brings home the proper A/V receiver with transformers in tow in HD. Her first statement "Our was getting old, even though we spent $700 on the old a few years ago, I know you've been wanting an upgrade..." This didn't happen to me but she was with me and weighed in on which speakers and reciever to get both times.

Tes7769 10-15-07, 03:23 PM You are indeed a very lucky man.I'd have more luck getting our cat to do something like than the significant other.
kabob983 10-15-07, 04:43 PM Bah, my wife said "I don't want to buy a DVD unless it plays on all DVD players..."
Looks like I've got some "training" to do :P
jandawil 10-15-07, 05:13 PM How about...
"Hey babe..I was thinking about converting the garage into a home theater."
Her response:
"OK"
She rules!!!!
kabob983 10-15-07, 05:38 PM get her the pirates movie referred to in the HD-DVD adult thread and say you misunderstood what she wanted... but you may as well watch it anyway
I haven't seen the thread but sadly I know exactly what you're referring to. Haven't seen it...don't really have a desire to see it, but the wife and I saw an poster ad for it and rolled.
sailorrhett 10-16-07, 09:59 AM I know this has nothing to do with HDDVD, but my wife got me two Polk Monitior 50's and a CS1 center for 250 bucks cause my CC is closing. And I sent her there for movies!!!!!
dragonyeuw 10-16-07, 07:20 PM I've been training my fiance to understand the terms Bluray and HDDVD.She's getting there.Good story BTW thread creator...
I'm slowly educating my wife on the new formats. It's good that she can tell the difference between dvd and HD-dvd as far as PQ goes. The only thing I could add on this thread is that she totally dressed up our home theater with some kickass blackout curtains for the window and velvet drapes for the front screen. And she was able to program my Harmony 880 to make it easier for her and the kids. Now that's a wife! :)
ChrisPC 10-16-07, 09:46 PM My wife is very informed also. She called and told me when Paramount went exclusive! She's been begging me to buy Knocked Up ever since it came out, but didn't complain when I got it for $15 at CC today!
darwin316 10-16-07, 09:52 PM haha... I love my wife too!
We both called in sick today and raided CC for their BOGO deals... she helped me select 18 HDM movies, including Transformers :D
elezzar 10-17-07, 07:56 AM You know you married a great wife when :
1) She helps you making a 110' projection screen.
2) She loves movies as much as you do .
3) She cooks great food.
4) Lets you buy a new projector and loved it !!!
5) Helps you design and decorate the home theater room.
6) The must important thing: she loves you and is faithful to you.:-)
Denny_S 10-17-07, 09:02 AM 1. She lets me buy the A1 and Panny BD10 plus a new 50'' Panny, all within the space of 1 year!
2. She called me up TWICE yesterday morning to find out if I had picked up Transformers as yet.
3. She asks me everytime I put a movie on, if it is the Blu Ray one.....
4. She is so hooked on the HD that she now wants me to replace EVERY one of my movies with the HD/Blu Ray one!! :D:D
No no no...... you know you have a well trained wife when she brings home the proper A/V receiver with transformers in tow in HD. Mine is almost that good. She won't go and buy stuff without me (because she knows I labor over this stuff and she has no interest in learning about it), but decided that our anniversary present to each other this year should be an Onkyo TX-NR905. And of course, she knows not to buy SD DVDs, and calls me every time she goes to Target or Costco and sees a new HD DVD to find out if we should/should not get it or if we have it already.
Yep, I'm keepin' 'er. :D
Oddly enough my wife rocks as well when it comes to HD.:D

You watched Lethal Weapon 4 and the only thing you noticed was the bad audio?
Nics1246 10-17-07, 04:19 PM Ha ha, funny story......my wife asked me last night if we can watch the Transformers HD-DVD in the bedroom (which only has a SD-DVD player) and I said "your not really that ignorant are you?" She looked offended so I then told her "your married to me, and I thought that I have talked about and educated you enough about HD media." and she tells me "you think I actually listen to you". LOL. Gotta love her.
mflanagan 10-17-07, 04:24 PM DANG!! Time to retrain.....I just recently got her to bring home 'widescreen'!
Nics1246 10-17-07, 04:30 PM DANG!! Time to retrain.....I just recently got her to bring home 'widescreen'!
LOL, even I had her trained to that point. The last movie that she bought in the "full screen" version was Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. :)
rocketknight73 10-17-07, 04:45 PM you guys are lucky, my recent ex was just a whore and thats about it:( lol
You know your married when:
You go buy some HDM with the wife & she says "don't we have this movie already(SD DVD) we don't need another-1 it's a waste of $"

No, you know you have a great wife when she says, "Hey, let's put in Transformers so you can see Megan Fox because she's hot."
Must be nice my wife has proably watched 2 movies with me in the last 3 years. We have a dedicated 100" FP theater room to boot.
That's funny, my wife (now EX) cleaned me out and then left me all the kids and I haven't seen her in 5 wonderful years!
you guys are lucky, my recent ex was just a whore and thats about it
LOL. We've all been down that road. ;)
I waited until I was 46 years old to get married. She's 27 and I'm 51. Great marriage...fully supportive of my HD habits. She is an aggressive money maker, loves to work, is a delight to be around and fully supports my HD habits.
Plus she's hot as hell :)
you guys are lucky, my recent ex was just a whore and thats about it
I spit up my coffee holy S that's funny.
Rob
ResOGlas 10-17-07, 07:05 PM This thread made me LOL a few times. :D

Will Munshower 10-17-07, 09:26 PM When she lets you upgrade your 4 month old A2 last week for an A-35. Then she shows up from work yesterday with Transformers in hand. I love my wife.
porsche951 10-17-07, 11:17 PM When she writes you a check for 1.5 million, and tells you to retire at age 35. Yes, it's true.
