Sports movies can bring realistic action, honest flavors of what goes on behind the scenes, and even elements of real history. For team sports, in terms of overall believability and accessability, how would you say they stack up (not thinking of children's films)?

Titles I'm aware of are "Any Given Sunday", "Hoosiers", "North Dallas Forty", "Blue Chips", "Remember The Titans", "The Rookie", "Invincible", "Coach Carter", "Rudy", "Glory Road", "Slapshot", "Friday Night Lights", "A League Of Their Own", "Miracle", "We Are Marshall", Grid Iron Gang", "Major League". (No doubt there are others that focus on team sports!)

So a possible ranking might be:

A League Of Their Own (RT 84/83)
Friday Night Lights (RT 82/86)
Hoosiers (RT 92/88)
Miracle (RT 79/78)
North Dallas Forty (RT 85/-)
Slapshot (RT 86/-)
Remember The Titans (RT 72/68)
Rudy (RT 79/75)
Major League (RT 85/-)
We Are Marshall (RT 49/44)
Coach Carter (RT 64/59)
Invincible (RT 70/58)
Blue Chips (RT 47/-)
Any Given Sunday (RT 48/56)
Grid Iron Gang (RT 43/33)

What changes in ranking would you make (based on quality of film content, not RT %)?

Oh, yeah -- I forgot those two! ("A League Of Their Own", "Miracle")

PS. I'm kinda partial to "The Big Green" myself :)!

There's also the Kevin Costner line up: Tin Cup, Field Of Dreams, Bull Durham, For Love Of The Game

If you include car racing, then there's a ton of other movies: Days Of Thunder, Grand Prix, Talladega Nights TBORB, Driven etc...

Gridiron Gand is one of my favorites ; )

lol that fat kid was in The Sandlot which I loved as a kid and demand Fox put out on blu ray immediately.

I'd love for Disney to put out Miracle as well which could happen I assume if we've gotten glory road and remember the titans

I was hoping to keep the emphasis on films that focus on team sports and fairly down-to-earth themes, whereas golf, driving, wrestling, boxing, track and field, etc are fundamentally individual competition in character. Personally, I love "Chariots Of Fire" but I don't view that form of athletics as being true team.

Major League

Yes, I enjoy both that and the first sequel (second sequel is a complete throwaway). However, Although it's a good comedy, it's hard for me to take it very seriously as a baseball film.
