Any idea? Robert D 10-14-07, 10:04 PM Have you tried using another input on the switch for the HD-A1? Here are two switches that work well with my HD DVD players. http://www.radiient.com/Radiient-Select-4ce-Four-Input-HDMI-Switch-Repeater;jsessionid=ac112b2a1f430e4ed4eed66c4c2eb814d74bc2c2 f207.e3eSbNyQc3mLe34Pa38Ta38OaNr0?sc=2&category=41 http://www.octavainc.com/HDMI%20switch%205port.htm sgr 10-15-07, 06:04 AM Have you tried using another input on the switch for the HD-A1? Yes i try, still no go :( ill keep the link you give and check these out. Thank you SGR rwestley 10-15-07, 06:08 AM I have been using the same switch for months with no problems. What firmware version are you using with the HD-A1? I would suggest upgrading to the latest firmware and check your connections. There were handshake issues with early firmware virsions of the HD-A1. sgr 10-15-07, 04:30 PM Firmware is 2.3 wich is the lates i beleive. Sgr RickD_99 10-16-07, 03:24 PM Have you tried port 1 on the Monoprice switch? My HD-A1 has worked fine from the get-go on that port. However I was never able to get any port on the Monoprice to work reliably with my XA2...I've been using one of my two Yamaha 5990 receiver direct HDMI inputs for the XA2 with good results. DCSholtis 10-16-07, 09:42 PM Anyone know if this one is compatible with the A3: http://www.amazon.com/XtremeMac-XHD-4HDS-00-Xtremehd-4-PORT-Switcher/dp/B000OU7MVQ******pd_bbs_8/105-7128228-4174023?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1192588833&sr=8-8 TK6411 10-16-07, 11:15 PM I bought a new Joytech 3 port HDMI switch today. I also have similar HDMI loss of signal issues with my A2 and the new Joytech HDMI 3 port switch. Its very irritating. The switch appears to work perfectly with my Directv HR20-100 HD DVR both in Native Mode (which changes the TV res on the HDMI port to match the native res of the video source) and with Native Mode turned off (keeping all programs at 1080i res). Thus far no issues whatsoever with the Directv HR20-100 HD DVR. I'll have to check the switch out with my new blu-ray player which I'm getting tomorrow so I'll let you know if its just the Toshiba A2 that has issues with the Joytech switch. I hope the switch isn't the problem as its only $49.99 at Walmart and comes with a remote. If it continues to work with my Directv HR20-100 HD DVR and the new Samsung blu-ray player I'll be happy as long as I have the Toshiba A2 plugged into HDMI 2 on my Vizio VX42L HDTV (which only has 2 HDMI ports). When I use the A2 on the Joytech 3 port HDI switch (on any port) it occasionally loses video signal and goes to a blue screen on the Vizio saying "there is no signal." If I have no issues with the blu-ray player and continue to have no issues with the Directv HD DVR then I'll keep the Joytech HDMI switch otherwise I'll need an HDMI switch that works for the A2 and the other HDMI devices. I'll admit I'm not using Monster Cable HDMI cables so its possible it could also be the HDMI cables causing some of the issue as well, I'm just a bit reluctant to spend the $$$ to replace all my HDMI cables unless I knew for sure it would fix the issue with the A2. I should point out that I'm running the latest firmware ver 2.5, as of this time. rwestley 10-17-07, 05:49 AM I just ordered the new Monoprice 1.3a 4x2 switch that just came out. It should arrive early next week. I will report back. It seems like the most advanced switch yet with two outputs and 1.3a HDMI all for about $90. TK6411 10-17-07, 10:39 AM rwestly, please report back on the Monoprice 1.3a 4x2 switch...I'll go with what works. Just need to know that it does. rwestley 10-17-07, 11:57 AM I will be getting it next Tuesday and I will report back as soon as I can test it out. joewmaki 10-17-07, 12:32 PM I will be getting it next Tuesday and I will report back as soon as I can test it out. I have been waiting for this unit for some time. Unfortunately I bought an HDMI receiver and now need to split the output from that. Currently I use a 5x1 going to the receiver and split the output with a 1x2. The nice thing about the splitter is both outputs are active simultaneously. It sounds like with the 4x2, you need to select the output you want active. aaronwt 10-17-07, 01:12 PM I just ordered the new Monoprice 1.3a 4x2 switch that just came out. It should arrive early next week. I will report back. It seems like the most advanced switch yet with two outputs and 1.3a HDMI all for about $90. I received a couple of those this past weekend. They were larger than I anticpitaed but an excellent price considering the 1x2 HDMI splitters(Connectgear) I had prior cost $10 more. I have no problem running my PS3 through the Monoprice HDMI 1.3a 4x2 Matrix Switcher/splitter. My other one is being used on the output of myVP50 without any problems. I'm really only using them as an HDMI splitter, but I think I will use the one with my PS3 to also connect the OPPO player I just purchased for SACD/DVD-A playback over HDMI. My only complaint with these are the bright blue LEDs for the inputs and outputs. The power LED is red and not as bright.. I had to cover up the Blue LEDs, they were just too bright. aaronwt 10-17-07, 03:45 PM I have been waiting for this unit for some time. The nice thing about the splitter is both outputs are active simultaneously. It sounds like with the 4x2, you need to select the output you want active. Both of my outputs are active. You can just pick which input you want on each output. Input one can be on both outputs or you could have input 1 go to output 1 and input 2 go to output 2, etc. Since it's a true matrix swicther it is very versatile. Any input can go to any output and both outputs are active at the same time. DCSholtis 10-17-07, 06:19 PM I can report that the XtremeMac HDMI 4n1 Switch DOES work with my A3 with no problems whatsoever. rwestley 10-17-07, 07:44 PM This new Monoprice switch is also a splitter and that is what I have been looking for. I can live with the bright LED's all I will have to do is cover them with a small gel filter to block some of the light. I have done this in the past with bright lights from a receiver. shawv 10-17-07, 09:58 PM What is a small gel filter and how do you cover the led? rwestley 10-18-07, 05:14 AM I have an Ae900 projector and I was interested in finding the right filter to get better contrasts last year. I asked Lee filters to send me a free swatch filter book and along with providing the correct filters for calibration there are so many swatches of all different colors that I will never use. I just took a dark one and cut it into small pieces and taped it over the lights on a receiver and player to dim them. I will probably do it with the switch if it is too bright. You can also get colored gel at most party or art stores. If this switch works as advertised it will be a smash hit with 4 inputs and two outputs. I can't wait to receive it next Tuesday. TK6411 10-18-07, 11:12 AM I can report that the XtremeMac HDMI 4n1 Switch DOES work with my A3 with no problems whatsoever. I wonder if it works with the A2 and its latest firmware. I just got my new Samsung blu-ray player and both it and my Directv HR20-100 HD DVR work great with the cheap $49.99 Walmart Joytech HDMI 3x1 switch. I can't use the A2 on that switch at all as it constantly loses video sync (I suppose its a handshaking issue with the A2 firmware). So right now I have the A2 plugged into my HDTV's HDMI 2 Port while I have the Directv HR20-100 HD DVR and the Samsung blu-ray player plugged into the Joytech 3x1 HDMI switch on my HDTV's HDMI 1 Port. I would still prefer either a firmware fix from Toshiba for the A2 that fixes this issue or an HDMI switch that is fully compatibe with the A2 as it is. DCSholtis 10-18-07, 11:40 AM I have my A3 plugged into input 1 on that switch, Sony Blu-Ray plugged into input 3 and my HR20-700 in input 4 so far everything is playing nice with no problems. On the XtremeMac website they state that the switch is HD-DVD and Blu-Ray compliant. You can try emailing them and see. timpayne1 11-04-07, 08:56 AM I can report that the XtremeMac HDMI 4n1 Switch DOES work with my A3 with no problems whatsoever. I have the same switch and A3, but can't get an image on screen. Can I ask what brand HDMI cables you use? Length? Thanks. mw390 11-04-07, 09:27 AM I have one of these and I have NO problem with it on HD-A2. I also have 2 Sony DHG-HD1250 + 1 Samsung HD950 + Panasonic DMZ-E27K DVD recorder (and a Samsung DTB-H260HF ATSC tuner on the HDMI IN on the Panasonic) |
